Reeeen remember we were talking about your commute lastnight - my mate is refusing to believe that anyone can ride 10miles into central london in less than an hour. I have him wound up, it is very funny and will probably keep me amused all day looooooong!
This is the sad thing about many peoples view of cycling, they have no idea how far you can get in a set amount of time, I do 10 miles each way to work and it's normally about 40 mins for me and I'm hardly gasping or sweaty at the end of it.
If more people realised just how flipping quick and easy it is to get places on a bike they would start cycling themselves I reckon. London starts to seem very small after being on a bike for a bit.... -

Well so far I've only really given flat bars and bullhorns a good go, and found bullhorns much more comfortable for my day to day riding. Not really tried drops yet apart from a quick go on a friends bike, might give them a crack when I have a spare bit of £££, I like the look of drops and horns equally though.

Just a heads up about the Greenwich comedy festival, quite a few good names on the bill.

Just booked tickets for Jerry Sadowitz and Bill Bailey there.Managed to grab a couple tickets for Doug Stanhope at Leicester Square Theatre in a couple months too, can't wait to catch him live. A couple of his sets are up on spotify if anyone fancies a listen, they are brilliant!

Some guy in a shirt on a brompton going down charing cross road in rush hour. He was in the most spinny gear possible and as soon as the lights went green he'd start pedaling harder than anyone i've ever seen, but only going at about 5mph. His legs were just a flailing blur, it made me actually laugh out loud quite hard to myself.
He must have been fucking knackered by the time he actually got to where he was going. -

picked up a pair of the shorts and trousers a few days ago.
The waterproofness of them is quite impressive, tested by pouring a glass of water on myself and not a drop got through! Really lightweight and comfy because of the stretchy material, any damp/sweaty bits from cycling in the heat seem to dry off very very quickly too.
Nice looking, similar to the cut of a pair of slim jeans, would go nicely with trainers or shoes if you need to look smart (I never need to look smart!)
The shorts have a couple extra touches like the two back pockets being zip close, which would have been a nice addition on the trousers, can't have everything!Good value I reckon, and they don't really look like cycling specific clothing at all, which is a plus in my book.

I go from Lee in Lewisham up to the middle of Soho, I've just been going the OKR route because it's the most direct according to the googlemap route but any detours would be welcome. I don't find it all that bad really, from things I've read I thought OKR & E&C would be much much worse during rush hour....
Legs are already adapting to the exercise, I'm not really out of breath at all when I get to work/home, just sweating from the heat at the moment!
Already fed up of the sweaty bag back and strap lines on my top half, so ordered a large saddlebag and carradice bagman so I can say goodbye to the over the shoulder bag I'm currently using.
So nice to be out in the (not very fresh) air in the mornings, I can't ever go back to public transport commuting, when I used to do it on my old work commute it just made me so miserable for that first hour of being awake!

My old commute was 0 miles a day as I was working from home, so my only cycling was for pleasure/shop runs etc, and my legs really weren't prepared for this new job. It's 10 miles each way roughly and after 3 weeks I'm really beginning to feel it, though still surprised at how quick it is to get right into central London.
It's a bit hard to get motivated in the mornings, but after the first few hundred meters and zooming past all the traffic I start to enjoy it (not enjoying E&C roundabout much though).
I was surprised at the number of cycle commuters I'm seeing everyday going up the old kent road, nice to see so many, the whole not-trying-to-look-like-i'm-racing-you-but-secretly-I-really-am thing is quite amusing. My aching legs will just have to HTFU.....Still, very glad I'm not on the train/bus. -
