Started keto 5 weeks ago on the recommendation of a mate.
Gone from 86.7kg to 80.1kg (height: 5'9").
6.6kg lost (just over a stone in old money).Zero change in activity level.
Easiest change to diet I've ever done, reintroduced a lot of things we had previously cut out while trying to lose weight (full fat mayo, butter, cheese).
Having loads of greens with every single meal now.An odd side effect was the complete lack of caffeine craving, going from needing a coffee first thing to not really wanting it at all.
Beer has been the only proper craving I'm having, but I'm learning to appreciate rum.
Positive points are:
Never feeling properly hungry (MUST EAT NOW type hunger).
Feeling much more awake in general.
Going to bed at a much more reasonable time.
Not snoring anymore! -
My other half has been thinking about giving a go to cycling her commute, she's a competent bike rider (done cycle training, has a driving license) but not all that confident.
I checked Google maps and Cyclestreets suggestions and to be honest most of the routes look pretty horrible, not sure I'd even be happy cycling them daily myself.
Anyone familiar with this area of London able to suggest a route that doesn't look utterly horrific?

Been recently commuting on my 3 speed Pashley Guvnor, it's fun to ride but quite a work out as it's heavy as an elephant.
Would like a folding bike to replace it for commuting, as might be needing to introduce a train ride as part of my commute soon.
Seriously considering a Brompton, might even try and have a go on on of their electric models if I can get to a shop, the idea of sweat free/no shower/no having to change clothes commuting does appeal quite a lot. -

Ironically now that the junction is mostly traffic I've had more close calls in the last couple days than in the previous 2 years of going that route daily.
The few cars that are still using it are getting a lovely free run up at the junction and because it's all so empty, many of them are not bothering to slow down to check if anything is coming in the opposite direction before making a right turn.Lots more pedestrians walking straight out into the mostly empty roads around the junction without taking a single glance too.

Around midday today.
Just before you get to the corner of Burgess park on OKR.Bike and car looked pretty messed up, I was going past just as they closed the ambulance doors, they didn't go blues and twos straight away so hopefully that means it was a non life threatening thing for the rider.
From the positioning of the vehicles it looked to me like the car had been travelling towards Lewisham and took a right hand turn across the two lanes into Oakley place. The biker must have been coming up the left hand lane towards the Burgess park corner of OKR and smacked into the passenger side of the bonnet part of the car.
Hope all involved are ok.
Every day I only have to do about 300m of the OKR and it always seems to most dodgy part of my journey.
Edit* just noticed I did the date formatting backwards, can't seem to edit the thread title though.

This morning shortly after Lewisham roundabout I go to overtake some dozy twat who decides as I'm going past that they are going to do a right hand turn without signalling or even the most cursory glance over their shoulder. I had given about 1.5 meters space and she still almost ploughed into me, pretty much a full lock (whatever the bike equivalent is) turn with no awareness of what was around her....
Also spotted plenty of people on the way home tonight with no lights whatsoever, still surprises me every day how many there are.....

I got the barclays email pretty much straight away with a pdf to print, sign, and send off to them.
Got a confirmation of that a couple day after from apple that my order would be fulfilled.
And had a dispatch email saying 27th for my iPhone.
Give apple a ring, they are usually quite useful over the phone.... -

Well after having to use every flavour of iPhone daily in my job for the last 2 months I've caved in and bought an iPhone 4 to upgrade my 3G.
Apple are offering 0% finance for 6 months on their uk online store so i'm going with that and paying £100 a month for a 32GB.
Can't wait to get my hands on it, mostly for the beautiful camera and HD video capabilities (also it being a fuckton faster than my current iPhone is a welcome addition).
This video shows what is possible with a mobile phone camera! Impressive. (fullscreen this badboy)

Hoping to get a Hague stedicam for christmas too so I can do some lovely smooth recording with it (they do an iPhone 4 specific one).

A guy bombing it down jamaica road who was so bent over that his entire upper half was parallel to the road and almost perfectly flat but he seemed to have a really long neck as his head was still totally upright as if his neck and head were some sort of periscope.
It made me actually laugh out loud, I have never seen anyone else ride in a position even approaching what he was managing. -

Total cunt this morning.
Going along bell lane towards spitalfields I see a cyclist coming towards me shortly followed by a silver car that zoomed past her swerving violently in a total I AM CAR HEAR ME ROAR! type way.
The road was fairly parked up and I was already half way along that part of the road as he overtook her. He proceeded to keep his foot firmly down on the accelerator until he flashed past me at what must have been around 50mph, I had to squeeze between two parked cars to narrowly avoid being obliterated.
I noticed he had a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp as he went past, what a complete angry prat. -
I generally try to say something positive first. Or... when you think they know they've done something dodgy, when you get to the lights and catch them up, politely ask them to wind the window down - them expecting you to start having a go at them, but NO! You completely don't! Just ask for directions, or let them know that their nearside rear tyre could be a bit flat, or something driverish like that. Works a treat! makes you have contact with them... real, human, friendly contact.
Total Derren Brown stuff right there!
I likes it

First week was a little rough with how your body deals with switching its energy source from mostly carbs, but after that it's been fine.
No 'keto breath' for either of us luckily.
The only 'supplement' we are using are High5 Zero tablets to get a bit of a electrolyte boost which helped getting used to the diet initially, but these seem to be less and less important as the weeks are going by.
Had to switch out some 'normal' salt use for 'lo salt' as cutting carbs often means your potassium intake can be next to nothing (I had no idea that much salt was in everything!).
Really feels like something we will be able to keep up long term.
The increased fresh meat and produce intake has even prompted us to ditch Tesco and start getting most of our shopping from Farmdrop which is definitely tastier for us, and better for the livestock.
The reddit keto board was full of good information for starting it off.
