Mercian Vincitore Super Vigorelli 23.5”
I have got 1960 Mercian Vincitore Super Vigorelli which is the fore runner of the Vincitore introduced in the 1960’s and has the classic Mercian curly lugs. The frame is made from Reynolds 531 double butted tubing, and is in reasonably good condition, a rear gear hanger has been brazed on in the past and there are a couple of dents in the top tube but it is 51 years old.
But I have got too many bikes I have built it up and it rides lovely, I after £250 plus the postage as I live in N.Yorks

** Mercian Strada Speciale 531 Frame 62cm 24.5”**
It is time to admit I have got far too many bikes and frames, hence some have to go. This is a 1980 Mercian Strada Speciale frame, which is 62cm 24.5” on the seat tube from the centre of the bottom bracket tothe top of the top tube and the top tube is 57cm 22.5” from centre to centre. The frame number is 54080 meaning that it was the 540 frame built in 1980 by frame builder number 2. The frame is finished in its original green with gold lug lining; gold Mercian gothic transfers on the down tube and Mercian headcrests on the head tube and seat tube; there are some marks and surface rust which adds to the general patina of this classic frame. The lugs have clover leaf cut outs and the fastback rear seat stays making in in my opinion one of the nicest Mercian frames available. The rear end is spaced at120mm with long horizontal Campagnolo ends making it an ideal fixed frame and only has braze ons for the gear cables and a gear lever pip giving it a very clean look. The front end is space at 100mm. See picture of it built up.
As this frame was original designed as a racing frame it is very responsive and lively as you would expect from a Mercian frame and if it was an inch smaller it would certainly be a keeper
I am looking for £200 including the Tange headset. As I live in North Yorkshire it would have to be sent. Parcelforce charge £15.50 for their 48 hour service.

Hello I have got a 1969 Mercian King of Mercia frame the seat tube is 24.5" 62cm from centre to top and the seat tube is 22.5" 57cm from centre to centre. The rear spacing is 120mm and front 100mm it has braze ons for rear brake; gears; pump and bottle cage. I use it as a single/fixed speed and it is great and it looks neat as it does not have a gear hanger. The frame has been resprayed at some stage in its life by Mercian and is finished in Ruby Flab with silver transfers and lug linning. The reason I am getting rid of her is I have far too many bikes in my stable and it is on the large size for me as I'm 6 foot 1.83M. I looking for £250 including standard Parcel Force 48 hour service and Campag headset.

I would suggest that PG stands for Paolo Garbini
http://yearinhell.blogspot.com/2008/10/forza-paolo.html
Thanks for that the Shorter transfers confuse me. My next question is does anyone know who built Paolo Garbini frames or did he build them himself? Thanks in advance -
I bought a bike the other week, mainly for the groupset. I wonder if anyone can help me identify the make of frame. It has Shorter transfers on it now, but the frame has been repainted a some stage in its life. The original receipt from Paolo Garbini Cycle Centre Ltd in Great Pulteney Street W1R back in 1985 states "to one very special (Limited Edition) Racing Bike - Columbus (SLX)" then it lists details of the rims and the Campag 50th Anniversary groupset etc.
The frame has a P and want I think is a C or G, although I think it looks like a Pac Man stamped on the fork crown; top of the seat stays and a C or G on the rear brake bridge.
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi I have got a pair of Mavic Open 4 CDs on early 1990 Campagnolo Chorus hubs, 8 speed screw on block they run reasonable true and come with tyres and inner tubs. The rear axel has snapped and has been replaced with a bolt on one. I after £35 for the wheels plus postage using parcelforce 48 hour service which is £15.

The cranks were made by Raleigh and were used in alot of there Racing bikes like the Europa and Arena and I think BSA Tour de France. They were cottered and could be either single with a 48/49 ring or double and the smaller ring was 42 and I think you could buy a conversion kit to convert your bike from 5 to 10 speed.

Cheers for the input guys.
Any idea on price for a paint job by Mercian? Initially I was just thinking about a powdercoat job.
Amazingly it's pretty much spot on for me!
Ced
Not the cheapest, but certainly a very good job. I had my 1991 King of Mercia resprayed last year. Fantastic job check it out on flickr
