I only intended to run as a fixed - and wanted the lines as smooth as possible.. However, in the 70s these frames usually didnt have braze ons anyway, you used cable clips and band-on mechs etc. It is quite likely that they had been added at some point in the 80s/90s as an upgrade..
So frame is still totally usable for gears and would make a perfect retro build with 70s groupset if desired.
My first proper bike was a Falcon Professional which I bought second hand in November 1979 and I took it to Mercian to be repainted. The frame had no braze ons what so ever. I had bottle cage mounts brazed on, but for the rest I used clips and it had Campag ends. I can remember lusting after a Mercian Professional and all of the Mercians did have braze on gear cable guides and a gear lever pip. I wish I had had a gear pip brazed on as the Suntour Cyclone lever were a nightmare and use to slip due to their design, very light and pretty. I changed these for Suntour ratchet levers as they didn't slip.

I would put it on eBay as a buy it now and also do a best offer facility. Track frames fetch good money but there is always a chance in an auction it might not reach the price you want, whereas with a buy it now you put your price plus a bit so that you can come down a little bit. Plus you pay less comission with buy it now, don't forget paypal charge a comission as well. Parcelforce are good for sending out and you can normally google a promo code for a 10-15% discount. The frame sounds lovely I've got a 61cm Super Vigorelli which was made in 2008 in ruby flam and silver lug lines. Good luck.

Claud Butler frame, the seat tube is 60cm from the centre to the top and the top tub is 57cm from centre to centre. Rear spacing 126mm front spacing 100mm. It is 531 main tubes and forks, it dates from the late 70's early 80's. It has long horizontal rear drops outs. I am asking £70 including the postage.

Hi Mercian frame fetch a good price on eBay. IMHO they are one of the best frames. If it was mine I would keep the braze on, on the frame and send it or take it to Mercian to be repainted they do a fantastic job.
Well done on your find.
