I would like to swap my lovely set of carbon forks with with another pair more suitable for my machine...
They are in very good condition:
700c
220mm steerer tube
3-4cm thread
Low rake of around 40mm
Brake mountI want another set of 700c all with similer spec except pre cut to 170 or there abouts.
Ive tried to get mine cut down but the local bike shop said the steel was too tough to cut through and Im not prepered to spend £50+ getting them lathed with an engineer.
Regards
Nick

Im getting the forks re-tapped on the 11th, a small price to pay but its at the local bike store which makes it easy for me...
In regards to carbon, its strong but flexible in my eyes... the carbon is what holds it together, and the resin is just the flexible coating.
You know those pictures of people standing on carbon bonnets of cars? Always flexing but do not break, it'll be like riding with my wheel attached to two jellybabies ;-)

the only thing really wrong with it is the handlebar setup. Which is just a fucked up mod by the owner.

Those bikes are awesome, they would be a little better if they didnt have suspension on even to road versions though(which most of them do for some reason).

What are they for? just fuckabout? or dh? or... what??

I understand both points of view, I also see good engineering as ingenuity and creative purpose.
There are things on here that I havent seen before, like the thinking behind the forks as full twin blades... The thinking and then the craftsmanship behind it.
I suppose it depends if the creators of the design were the makers? But surely one can engineer mentally as well as physically?

Just purchased some classic looking carbon jobbies...
Replaced the original 27" forks with these 700c type. However, the originals were lovely forks.
Clearance has closed up considerably, and do not spoil the look. Hopefully it will ride much better as i have been trying to increase the trail which these do.
Just gotta get the stem cut down and rethreaded and good to go!

Next job?
Full black bars ;-)

This seems like a logical and simple solution in my head.
I have a set of forks with a 220mm steerer tube. Its gonna cost me quite a bit to get them rethreaded and cut down...
However, Ive had the idea of chopping off the top and turning them into 1 inch ahead forks...
Does this seem logical??
What is the hieght of an ahead stem?
Cheers
Nick
