What a calamity for ETNZ, but fair-play and tomorrow will be just amazing.
How exciting right? This has been the most exciting cup and the most exciting sailing I've ever watched.
Shame about Ben Ainslie being on the American boat, come on buddy, you've been knighted so you ought to sail for your queen on a commonwealth boat! -

We saw a few people going aground, we were pretty keen not to do that, so we were watching the Ipad nav and the sounder fairly closely, in the end going in a straight line paid off and we overtook loads of tide chancers.
The wind was northerly, so it was reaching to the needles, gybe with spinny up, then a nice broad reach where we shredded the kite :( we then gambled on the 2nd kite shortly and then upwind to the finish.
There was a fair bit of land shadowing so we had to depower the top of the sails quite a lot to stay on course. Good fun though! -

This morning, on Round the Island race with Artemis Academy, we saw lots of cool boats and Sir Ben Ainslie did ok... well, incredibly well actually and went round in under 3 hours. We did it in 7h.

I've just lost interest in documenting the process.
I got stuck with a few things, the brakes for example, the front posts are so close together that I couldn't fit modern cantis, I had to go back to the old stuff which was a bit disapointing. The whole Idea was to make a tourer with modern parts that would still retain the essence of mid-century touring in terms of concept and aesthetics.

i don't really want to, but I might have to. I need to work out what I can carry with saddle/bar/frame bags. I think you need a stiff frame for racks & paniers so I'd rather keep the bike feeling great when loaded up.
The only thing I like about panniers is that you can take them off and keep them in the tent very easily. Also good for repairing a puncture for example, you can take the load off the bike in 2 seconds. -

Harry Quinn by Cedric design, on FlickrThe frame has been bought from here by the way for 70 quid or thereabouts. It's going to cost me just as much for the new paint.
I just spent about 10 times as much on a Sram groupset, and other componants.
I'm going for an orangy rust paint, the groupo's black/grey, brakes will be tecktro oryx, saddle is a Turbo in black, bars will be On-one Midge bars with a riser quill stem, wheels are mavic aksiums in silver and running gatorskins in 28c for now. Mudguards are Gilles Berthoux from SJS.Should be back here next week with the paint job done hopefully.
:)I don't think it will have a rack, but it should have a large saddle bag and handlebar bag with possibly something in the middle, I like the idea of bike packing.

I had a great shot from a ROK(presso) machine the other day, it was not as warm as I'd have liked, the rok dissipates the heat quickly, but as a result it was far from bitter and the aroma was powerful.
I'm definitely getting one soon, I keep saying that I know.Porlex grinder: not quick, but nice to use, convenient and well made, It produces a lot of fines, I used it with a french press and a stove-top and frankly too much of it comes through the metal filter, so not the most consistent at coarser settings in my limited opinion.
I also worry about the 5pan connection with the handle, it could get worn fairly quickly.

Just have a standard for lorries that are "city-safe", and only those that pass the standard are allowed to drive in central London.
Instore the same driver's responsibility laws that they have in Denmark/Netherlands and give firmer sentences and better efforts to find those driving people over.
Make the cyclist's driver's license at risk if he does not observe the rules of the road (this would make it unfair, but would make a larger group OBEY)
