I had this problem due to having skinny pressed dropouts, but sorted it by putting a washer on the outside of the dropout for the QR to bite into.....also you can use the round bit on the end of a large spanner to lever the QR to buggery, just makes it less QR when you have to take it off :) Good luck!

I had an old brooks once that was about 5 mm too wide on each side for an old french seatpost. I assumed it was a combination of the seat being slightly too wide and the seatpost being slightly too small (each within their tolerances?).
I just squeezed it in and it worked fine....I guess in theory you are putting it under strain and this could have adverse (snappy/rippy) effects on the saddle, but it worked fine for me for quite a while....
Would be interested to know if there are in fact different standard widths (and whether/when Brooks worked with those)

Ok I'm going to go for it. Going to get some red white and blue tape and try a triple harlequin on drops plus hoods. Straight in at the deep end, no problems.
Does one roll of tape typically do one side of a pair of drops, so you typically need 2 rolls?
Definitely need 4 rolls....two for each side....i failed in my first attempt to do this a few months ago cuz I only bought two....was not happy :)

With the allen key type I just get the crank at 7 o' clockish, and the wrench at 5 o' clockish, and push them both towards 6 o' clock; then reset the tool and repeat, and repeat, and repeat, until it there's A LOT of resistance.
Science in action.
Surely this sort of science depends on which one of these two you are like:

Would never imply that the driver shouldn't be blamed. He should be hung out to dry. But personally I find it scary to see that this particular incident happened at less than 30 mph! Dont make me even think about starting the helmet vs. no helmet debate here as I dont think it would be appropriate. Probably should be thinking about booking the twat that parked on the double yellow lines too!

^Great job! and I'll be damnned, the last few pages even had some memes.....that was disappointing.
