So I removed the crash bars , removed the copper grease from the bolts and block and kept it away from plastic and paint as much as possible and added the loctite ( not a lot ) and torqued up to spec .
I don’t know why I thought I knew better than the enclosed instructions, I guess the YouTube didn’t help , but now I’m confident of the fitment snd they look great .
I almost bought the red bars but the black disappear more -
I’ve spent about an hour on the forums looking this up , it seems you should way reduce the torque if it has anti seize on it .
I’m guessing now I’ll go and buy a can of brake cleaner and with compressed air try and clean the bolts and bolt holes.
The BMW bolts that came out had loctite on so perhaps I should go with that and then torque them up .
Tbh I was a bit worried I’d not get them all done up before the loctite cured .
It all looks so simple , I watched a YouTube where a fella fits the very same bars and uses copious amounts of antisieze .I always thought it was good practice…. All I’ve done is create more work for myself .

Fitting some wunderlich crash bars to the urban gs today.
I went easy as I read an account on line of a chap over tightening only to see oil leak out as he’d perforated the block I guess.
Instructions called for loctite, but I hand tightened and used copaslip and after I’ve torqued them up I’ll mark up and keep an eye out ..ok ?
Acceptable practice ? -

So I’ve bitten the bullet , splashed out on a BMW urban gs .
My Vespa is insured down our brick side passage that they accepted as a ‘garage’ it’ll be a squeeze with both .
I do have a garage a couple of hundred yards away and I used to keep my motorcycles in there but nowadays insurance don’t really like it.
Any one got a friendly insurer that accepts this arrangement?
Cheers -

92kg , i did get down to 79kg about 2.5 years ago with fasting and fasted rides and I thought I looked great , a lot thought I looked ill.
To be honest though I think you know by mirror, belt, feel on the bike when one sits and the gut touches where it didn’t , so I’m not going to obsess over the kg especially if I keep up strength training.
I feel great around 84kg so I’ll aim for that , trouble being at nearly 59 if you lose too much weight in the face you look old ( you don’t get wrinkles on a balloon do you?)
I am doing the StrongLifts programme but have been absent for 26 days due to health issue and it knocks you right back .Getting back into it , but it’s more riding I need to do . fasted rides seem to work really well if at a gentleman’s pace .
So in the spirit of feeling more like a rider , I’ve shaved my legs .
And as it’s a sport of marginal gains I’d like to report an instant weight loss .
It’s disgusting I know , just before it was about the block the shower -
Also have the Id3 , I appreciate it’s an issue with the A pillars from time to time , so a bit more time and care needed at some junctions . It’s a car which kind of encourages a bit more of a relaxed drive when I’m in it .
