Ah...quite... ;) Nah there was no knee bending involved though I'm threatening to come into her college during a lecture and re-propose in front of everyone...mwahahaha...
But was it all really worth it? After teaching at that college for the last 37 years, she's now been fired!
These teacher/student infatuations always result in heartache....sure you'll have a few happy years together....but then one day you'll meet some girl your own age down the roller disco....and you'll have to go home and tell Mrs Dawkins that it's over....leaving her not only alone, but also without her teaching pension to fall back on.Think of her career son....her career!

You're right hippy.
I don't actually dislike langsters...there's not many bikes i do dislike....i think what i was trying to say is why compact geometry sometimes looks wrong is when they have massive headtube lengths with sloping top tubes.
Both my Brklyn and my Storck are compact and neither of them bother me. -
Maybe if Leonardo Da vinci photocopied his pictures instead of hand painting each one we could all own one....maybe if Gordon ramsey only served beans on toast we could all afford to eat in his restaurant...maybe if Vanilla cycles used a production line to make his frames we could all get our hands on one....maybe if Oswald Boetang had all his suits made in China we could all have his duds on our backs.
It's simply the nature of custom, handmade products that eventually demand will exceed supply...that however does not mean that supply then has to expand or be made quicker.
I'm not on a mission to see my bags on the shoulders of every bike owner in the world.
If somebody want's one bad enough they'll have to wait...if they can't or don't want to then i have no problem in recommending Project Tortoise,Zugster,Chicago Wig,Pac,Norman Porter,Lemolo....or any of the other fine bag makers out there. If however i have a desire to take Archie's Grobags In a different direction one day and employ a factory full of people, so long as the quality and features can be maintained i may just do it.
Who knows what the future holds.

The fork is plenty strong enough for a disc mount already and Joe is on the case anyway.
No need to change the fork for cyclocross either as canti brakes are still the best brakes for cross riding anyway and as said, the fork can be ordered with canti mounts already. As also already mentioned, the bike looks like it does as Joe's bikes have his own style stamped all over....the Gangsta was meant as a play bike and a bike capable of being used by messengers in the roughest cities around...shortening the fork and lengthening the headtube while still allowing for barspins and tricks and providing the stiffness the gangsta does would have made the bike look a damn sight more freaky than it does right now.
Joe has been riding track bikes a hell of a long time so he knows the hows and whys....if he wanted the forks to look like every other pair out their he would have done it....the main reason the langsters look so wrong is precisely because they have sloping top tubes with long head tubes.
Again, it comes down to personal preferance, but i've ridden mine on the 120 mile dunwich dynamo as well as in the city and it's still my favourite bike i've ever owned....and i've owned a lot of bikes! If you like it, buy it, you won't be disappointed.
If you don't like it, don't buy it...and continue to whinge about the fork clearance and sloping top tube.
But whichever choice you make...i'll still be enjoying riding mine.
And in ten years time when mine is still going strong we can talk again about whether you think they're worth £700...:) -
If i had the money i'd get these guys to build me some... http://www.headphile.com/
But i've been using my sennheiser HD265 for about 14yrs now and they're still my favourites....cost me about £170 when i bought them back then, but i've seen them for less than £100 nowadays...might buy a new set just incase mine ever give up.
I also used mine as a single cup on a custom made lollipop handle for DJing with. -

maybe a little OTT?
So where exactly is 'the top' ...black?
The beauty of bikes is that they can be customised exactly to your liking...your own personal preferance.
That paint is pretty much just gunmetal grey most of the time...it's only in direct sunlight that you really notice the colours.
It's also sprayed onto a 53lbs steel downhill bike with a twin chain setup and 9" of travel...3" tyres..etc...so i doubt if it's gonna be the paint that would get classed as over the top. -

a young courier on a fuji track frame stopped right infront of me without checking behind him an knocked me off my bike, grrr
Why should he be having to check behind himself to see if anyone is right up his arse?
Brakes don't stop instantly, so surely you were too close to him and should have been paying more attention to what HE was doing?

Gonna be there earlier tomorrow with the boys! They get chucked out at 8:00 :)
