Doesn't this reading of what is "newsworthy" ignore that the news not only reports on events but informs public perceptions of them.
Surely if the mainstream media chose to narrativise a series of international anti-austerity protests as an important part of a wider anti-establishment movement then people would be more likely to take it seriously. It's a bit circular to say that a protest isn't newsworthy because it didn't achieve anything.

The below from Berry is interesting and telling:
In some previous years, London Greens have recommended people voted for Ken Livingstone second because we had a good working relationship with him on the Assembly. This year we set out some policy positions and offered both the 'frontrunner' candidates the chance to talk to us about them and seek our recommendation, but neither responded to this and I was surprised that Sadiq Khan said he didn't want our recommendation this year and didn't meet up. Because of this we have made no positive recommendation this year, and this is our statement about that: https://london.greenparty.org.uk/news/2016/04/19/greens-rule-out-recommending-second-preference-candidate-for-mayor/

Yeah I feel like I'll be less lucky as I don't have any particularly good photos. I bought it on here so I've asked that guy if he has any pics in the hope that some of the marks might match up.
I get the feeling the police will just tell me to jog on if I call them up and say "I think I've found my saddle on eBay but I have no proof".
I'll stick a bid in and see what happens.

Calling myself out today. Not sure where my head was at but made some terrible judgement calls.
