Hi, just purchased one of these in spite of the poor reviews:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Miche_Fixed_Track_Sprocket_Lockring/5360040750/
I fixed it to my rear hub and although the thread was a bit loose, it did seem to basically do the job. However, I'm worried it may prove problematic later on. Should I persist, or exchange it for another one? Thx.

I'm currently converting an old Raleigh.
I removed the outer chainring (52t) and was left with the 48t chainring, which lines up better with the rear cog.
However, then I had the problem that the bolts which attach the chainrings to the spider were too long and so I couldn't tighten the chainring. I tried filing down the bolts but it didn't work. In hindsight, perhaps I should have fashioned some bits of metal that were the same width as the outer chainring and then I could have dealth with the width issue that way.
So, is my only option to get some new bolts or can I get some bolts that will fit perfectly? Thx.

Needed to clear some space in our garage and found this old thing:
It's an old Raleigh City(?)
Raleigh 18-23 steel tubing
Sturmey Archer Hub that can probably be repaired and brought back into service. The frame has rust on it but is salvageable IMO. Perfect for a beater or polo.
Here's the link: http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad13/myrearwheel09/
Raleigh 18-23 steel tubing
There's a shop address on the frame:
Withington Cycles Ltd
26 Burton Road, Manchetser, M20 3EB
0161 445 3492Re: sizing
Upright riding position - top tube length 56cm.
I'm 6ft tall dead on and so that should give you an idea of sizing from the pics. Probably perfect for s.o.5ft 8-10" (173-178cm) .
It's quite an upright riding position as you can see.
Looking for £45 for the lot. Collect from Arnos Grove (N11) Picadilly Line - just north of Wood Green. You can take it on the train from New Southgate (5 mins from the address) to King's Cross.
Happy Bidding.

Hi,
I've just built the wheels for a fixed wheel conversion I'm doing.
These are the hubs I'm using:
http://www.ambrosio.co.uk/ambrosio_track_hubs.htm
I'm currently sorting out the chain alignment and the sprocket.
1) I'm going to need spacers, right?
2) Using a lockring? The sprocket will tighten naturally because of the chain direction. However, it will loosen if
I try to slow the rear wheel down with my feet whilst riding? I've read that I'll need a lockring to counteract this problem but I'm
not clear as to where the lockring will go because it's a different sort of lockring to that which one finds on a cassette hub. -

Hi there,
So I've finally built my first set of wheels: Ambrosio large flange track hubs (32hl) with Rigida Flyer Rims.
I've replaced spokes and trued wheels on my mtn bike before and so I wasn't a complete novice to the process.
However, I'm not totally convinced I've done the job properly and so I was hoping for an appraisal.
On the front wheel, I know that with the two spokes either side of the valve hole I didn't line them up in parallel to the hub - this may cause a small problem with tyre inflation but I didn't think it significant enough to restart.
On the rear wheel, for some reason, towards the end of the lacing process, I had difficulty getting some of the spokes to reach the nipples - it required some pulling of the hub to get the spokes to reach. Anyway, I eventually got them in.
Now, is there anything I've missed...

I read somewhere else that the Miche lockrings are dodgy too. I purchased one off wiggle cos' of the cheap price but was disappointed when it arrived. Even though it did eventually tighten on to the sprocket, it was a very loose fitting, which IMO would prove problematic in the future.
