What a journey! I would say though, that those 3t stems are terrible compared to nitto or even generic system ex / blb / dis compe etc. Really flexy and also I had the thread on the bar clamp strip out of one riding down a hill - escaped unscathed but could have been bad!

Even my garage (connected to the house but not heated independently) seems to get a bit damp in winter - has a cycling cap hanging that’s got mouldy and a Brooks that’s got mouldy - would be interested if there’s a solution but guessing not. Concerned about bikes/components stored in there getting rusty etc. Noticed some relatively new brifters has a rusty bit inside this week.

The mid to high end Terns ride well, generally have good drive trains (derailleurs), but the folds are massive and as mentioned above spares can be a nightmare. They’re really no competition for Brompton (sadly as they could do with a challenge), they’re an alternative suitable for people doing last mile commutes (parking in park and ride and getting it out the boot)/leisure cyclists or people who don’t have space to store a normal bike.... for mixed mode commuting you just can’t beat a Brompton (the terns are very unwieldy - she really needs to compare them side by side to see the differences)

What are the little brake pad stopper things for caliper brakes called? The lad backers that give you a few mm extra drop on a standard brake:

Previously I had 7800 brake and lever which worked great, I swapped to 5700 lever and 7800 brake and there was no power. Swapped to 5800 brake and it improved again. So if mixing r7000 lever with that old mid drop brake will be the same as 5700 lever and 7800 brake, that’s not satisfactory for me.

shimano have discontinued their mid drop brake, I’m pretty certain the pull ratio wasn’t right for the newer shimano levers anyway - anyone know if there’s a new design of shimano mid drop due?

Or has anyone found a mid drop that works well with r7000/8000 levers?
