500g flour, 3g yeast, 40degc water, 15g salt, mix, kneed for a minute, leave for 20, knead for 3 minutes, prove for 3 hours, put in the fridge and take it out 90 minutes before cooking. It's from the elements of pizza, I think it's perfectly passable.

Even if you went to an Italian deli you'd get enough for quite a few pizzas. Or wait for Italian week at Lidl and you get enough for a lot of pizzas!

I did a a lot of fishing holes and cable channels + a 80x80 hole in a sloping roof. My attempt is no worse than the other plastering we had done by a professional. It just took 4 times longer I guess? I'm sure this doesn't scale up to doing a whole wall, but I would definitely recommend giving patches a go!

For what it's worth, we haven't found that it has made a difference to our scraping. Either the wall paper is porous and come off with a spray with water or it has been varnished on and getting it off is just a case going at it with a sharp scraper.

Otherwise Metabo make a machine called the LF724s. It's a proper handful, probably the most dangerous tool I own. Has a habit of eating it's own safety guards. Basically an angle grinder with tungsten blades attached to a wheel. It ejects tiny sharp bits of paint at around 1000mph, they are all aimed at your eyes. Anything it touches is reduced to fragments. Everyone who trys it is simultaneously frightened and impressed :)

Videos of this thing look mad, It's just a shame that I'm not sure I have anything which it would be useful for.

For what it's worth, we have a speed heater cobra and have gone through a staircase, and 6 doors so far. Doors have 150 years of pain on them and I can manage to get 99% of the pain off in 4 hours or so.

We had bought 6.5 inch tongue and groove boards and asked for them to be taken down to 6 inch which basically meant removing the tongue and recutting it with the same dimensions. It's 40£ an hour so if you did the measurements for them it might shave off a few minutes!

We just had 15 machined at ecg joinery. We supplied the materials and it was 80£. Theyre really friendly and helpful

Speaking of which, any recommendations for decent wire strippers? I also just find myself using a Stanley knife for stripping wires but I'm sure there's something better out there.

They're probably all much of a muchness. I think the big lodge one would be what I'd get. They have been 60£ in the past. I saw an Ikea one too the other day which looked nice too.
