Hope you all had a good ride....would have come along but had to work. Did this route out on a ride to Stanstead last week and there's some lovely villages!

Seems theres a few people on here around Woodford area (I live just round the corner from bakery/ Castle), I often go for long/steady rides out in the countryside if anyone fancies hooking up for rides in the future? Generally sundays but often midweek too for a couple of hours....

I used to give EPO regularly to patients in kidney failure (one of kidneys functions is to help with red cell production) to avoid blood transfusions (means more foreign antibodies in blood which could affect getting transplants later on).

EPO may also be used more liberally in America for things like anaemia (means they can charge more from health insurance for expensive EPO compared to cheap iron tablets which they'd use here).

TfL cannot enforce, as they do not have the authority to issue PCNs to cyclists (or owners / keepers of pedal cycles), as they can only do so via approved devices, i.e. cameras, which cannot, as yet, identify cyclists.

And even if they could identify the cyclist via camera, they only have the authority to issue PCNs to keepers of vehicles.

The police will not (and, as far as I recall, cannot) enforce as the roads are, by and large, the domain of TfL, and governed by the Traffic Management Act, not the Road Traffic Act.

But the polis might still give a cyclist a £30 NEFPN, though I don't know for which offence.

Thanks TW, could you expand on what the actual legalities are of the ORN or more specifically how a cyclist should respond if police try to issue any of us with fines...as i think that would be particularly useful. Cheers!

Trust me you're doing the right thing. When in ICU i see people sitting by bedsides for days on end with someone who is sedated, not looking after themselves, only to be ill themselves when their loved one wakes up and needs the support.

Get everything sorted work-wise etc, rest up and make sure you're tip top for when he's awake and will really appreciate people around. Its completely normal to feel this way!

'excessive competitveness' - this sums up much that is absurd about London commuting. I've been overtaken by guys riding their road bikes at speeds that would be tough to follow on a club chain gang, but wearing ordinary clothes and with a backpack on. They then have to slam their brakes on to filter through a queue of traffic, before accelerating hard again.

But that doesn't make them a bad cyclist does it? I like to see my commute as an opportunity to get an hour of good exercise. If i overtake someone i don't see it as 'beating them' and being competitive, i just see someone on a bike going at a different speed to me.....

the way to fix this would be to hit them where it hurts....their wallets. Im sure if sponsors had to be compensated either by the rider themselves or the team in the case of proving positive people may think twice...
