Decided to change the tyres and just go out and ride it instead of waiting for cash to buy new wheels:

More comfy than CAAD10, although could be because of 25c Open Paves vs 23c GP4000s / don't like wobble in Ultegra levers before shift (is there some way to adjust this?) - SRAM feel better / this 58 fits better than the 60 / kids at traffic lights apparently think green tyres are cool. Ultegra 6800 + Hollowgrams are heavier than SRAM Red / Force mix. Whole bike currently 7.9, whereas CAAD10 was 7.5kg. Wheels and bar change should bring it down to 7.5.

Ha, alright. Bike wouldn't be much use if that happened. Could take it to a mechanic but should have a go myself. Will try cutting a little higher up just to practice first.

Isn't there a risk of splintering the carbon with standard blades? It'll be the one above or a 32tpi one, which both cost the same. Just wanted to know if the one above is meant for carbon too. Don't want to pay for the Park tool either. Might try masking tape or a plastic tube over it.

Tell me about it. Will be glad to be rid of the dreaded clunk down to the small ring.

Any opinions on Spidering Vs Praxis? With Ultegra 6800. Spidering is a bit lighter but also more expensive. Is shifting / durability the same?

I haven't actually sat on the new bike yet, but had a CAAD10 with the collar opening at the front, and no problems with post slipping, and I'm heavy. It's not higher than the Min insert line is it? Have you torqued it to 5nm? That's the carbon post, right? Try a little carbon fibre grip gel (I had some on my CAAD10 with carbon post). Clean the seatpost and inside of the seat tube with de-greaser first and make sure both are dry before applying it:

You can get a new SSE complete 105 5800 bike for under £1000.

You can get second-hand CAAD10's in good condition for what the frameset costs new (£550). Check seller Feedback and collect in person if possible or ask them to post if their Feedback is excellent and they seem sound.

Most likely Hed Belgiums on Dura Ace hubs, or Zondas as a cheaper option. Wheels are the only thing that really need upgrading, although could save about 150g on bars and chainrings.

Got this today. Sized down to 58cm after the 60cm CAAD10.

Installed Antares 00, FSA K-force post, 3T Arx stem, DA 9000 pedals, King Ti cages.

Now, wheel choices... Selling these. Needs Spidering or Praxis and lighter bars too.

I did read about this, via Google, and apparently that sole issue has been rectified with newer versions. I didn't realise you mentioned them as you were going on about the boot.

Seatpost and bars removed, apologies. Seatpost I should probably keep as a spare, and the bars I need before I get some new ones.

Just to make sure: The Belgium Plus rim, at 25mm wide, with a 25mm tyre (made bigger by the wide rim? 27mm?) will fit a SuperSix Evo frame?

Thanks for the info. I'll swap the parts I have over when the bike arrives and then give some more thought to the wheels. I do like the Belgiums, but £££.

Good price and wide, but 1790g and not sure 20 / 24 will be ok for 100kg. Looking to upgrade the stock Aksium S wheels, which are about that weight. I like the look of the Zondas (1550g) / Shamals (1425g), which are meant to be fine for heavier riders, but considering hand built too. Also not a big WW, but wanted to try and hit 7kg with this new build, and with 6800 rather than Force the weight savings need to come from elsewhere (me included).
