I should have been run over yesterday then, as I was pushing the bike to get the tyres pumped up!
Do you make a habit of walking out over zebras before checking that the traffic is actually stopping? If yes, then you are going to get hit sooner or later because law and reality are not the same. If no, then there isn't a problem.

You sir, are an idiot
I am down in Chichester for a couple of months, a very cycle friendly place - the majority of Ped Crossings here have a separate bicycle button to press for a cyclist, as the cycle lanes use the Ped Crossings to ensure you can cross over without putting yourself at risk There are also lots of Ped Crossings in London (e.g coming out of hyde park) that are also designed for cyclists
Crossings designated for cyclists are by definition designated for cyclists. And your point is?
-
No you can't. There would be a shit load of threads whinging about it on here.
The fact that the police no longer bothering enforcing it doesn't make it any less illegal. But I see, because there aren't lots of winging threads it must be true. I'll remember that next time I get stopped by the police for something. I'll refer them to here and tell them they must be wrong. lol

Sorry dude... the legalities are less important than common sense.
I rode towards old street roundabout recently with a less experienced rider. We got off and pushed the button. Will do so again if required.
And thats fine, its your choice, but if you don't follow the rules, other people have every right to be annoyed with you. You make the choice, be it RLJ or whatever, but be aware that if you step out on a zebra pushing your bike, cars are not obliged to stop for you.
Edit: Anyone who walks out onto a zebra without checking that the cars are stopping is of course an idiot.

Cyclists shouldn't use pedestrian crossings any more than they should ride on the pavement. Unless they actually carry the bike, in which case they become a pedestrian. A rider has no right of way across a zebra crossing and you are not obliged to stop for them. Lights of course, you 'must' stop for.
So no, I think you have every right to be annoyed.

There might be many types of paint, but clear coat is just paint without pigment. Mixing paint types is generally bad news because there can be chemical reactions between them, so it would be rare nowadays to paint and then lacquer with something which is a different type of paint. No paint which is designed to be a top surface should be porous (unlike primer and filler which can be.) Blasting has a reputation for causing later rust, which is probably more of a risk with a home version than a professional one.

Significant benefits fro employees should be seen as a benefit for the company! There IS something in ot for the employer - fitter, happier staff with nice shiny bikes from 14. Plus the NI saving.
As I said, an employer who is minded to offer a benefit to the employee may be willing to accept that providing it won't be free to them. If they are looking at it from a purely financial point of view, then, it's not so easy.
-
They do however have a point. As a finance company who has financed similar schemes, I have to agree that for the employer there are some significant downsides. Whilst its a great scheme for the employee, I think it would be almost impossible to convince an employer who was aware of the above and wasn't already minded to provide this as a benefit to go forward. The issue is that there really isn't anything in it for the employer, (aside from the Employers NI saving - and that is easily outweighed on a small scheme by the admin and legal costs).

I should add that you can get all the buying advantages of sniping just by putting a bid in just before the auction closes. The only real advantage of sniping is that you don't have to sit around and wait for that to happen. If you don't win its because your max bid was not high enough, if you get a bargain its because the other bidders aren't interested or haven't found the item - sniping in itself doesn't get you bargains or guarantee a win.
-
Its only a bargain if the other person has put in a throwaway bid hoping that no one else will bid. Lots of people will put in just the minimum bid. I assume that they don't want it, they are just looking to pick up cheap perhaps so they can resell. If the other person puts in a realistic max bid then you won't get a bargain regardless of whether or not you snipe. The only time sniping gets you a bargain is when you are up against an ebay newbie who will increment bid until they beat your bid - and obviously they don't have time to do that with a snipe.

Oh come, you didn't really think we could have a RLJ style thread without some controversy did you?
