And it's done. First bike I've ever designed, sprayed and built from start to finish. Very, very chuffed. A few things I'd like to change after a quick ride on it tonight, mainly slamming the stem, but I'm stoked.

Okay, bike is off for its lacquering at Henderson's of Leith, the only phase I am reticent to do myself. Crap phone photos of newly-sprayed bits.

Outlay was about £30 on paint, £2 on sandpaper and just time spent on sanding.

I did mine myself - an old Spesh Alu frame, carbon fork - from scratch; a how-to above the images ^^.

Worked out pretty well I think. Few bits and bobs to touch up, then paint the rest of it, clear coat and actually build the fucker up.

The moment of truth..

Fork outers.

IT BEGINS. AGAIN, again. Got my vinyl done finally, so applied that to the frame, carefully masking any bits that needed it. Frog Taped everything that needed it.

Sprayed TT, DT and forks. Masked chain- and seat-stays for spraying later this week. Three coats of Montana Gold.

Spray.bike do one; can't vouch for it but their paint is very good.

In the air.

Photographed my missus jumping out of a plane yesterday. Was fascinating and terrifying in equal measure, made more so by a number of factors; a) my wife is terrified of wasps b) there were hundreds of angry wasps in the airfield viewing area and we had to wait 8 hours to jump c) I got stung, twice, a few hours apart but 2cm apart on the same wrist and d) watching the woman you love jumping out of a plane at 10,000ft and trying to photograph it at the same time with a manual focus 80-200mm is somewhat stressful.

That aside, it's a tremendous experience. Here are a few shots.

Yup, just got a Lezyne 600 a fair bit larger than the 350 but chucks out a good range of lumens, including an eye-melter if you're in pitch black. Micro Drive rear light has a nice glowing function too.
