A shame about Ronde if so; I go past every day and they do serve great coffee; good when pro cycling is on the telly too. Wouldn't buy a bike there because £££ and their club runs always look a bit serious and full-on Waffa/Team Sky fanboys. Cycled past yesterday and didn't look that shut? It’s hard not to respond with anything other than the expected knee-jerk “Wee Highlander” response to this kind of utter keech. I know he has previous; it’s just depressing that “Sweaties” and “Jocks” are tossed around with such gay (ooh-er!) abandon that us otherwise rational Scots folk “on here” feel we have to call him out for doing so. “Edinburgh Bike Cooperation.”

I once got my front wheel nicked from outside my work, some 5 miles from my house. In the flat below us lived a gang of wee scrotes whose parents enacted minimal parental control whilst the kids would harvest whatever bits they could easily pinch. I make it home eventually and my actual wheel is sitting outside their front door along with one of their own shitty Halfords nedmobiles, so I get my wheel back and “borrow” theirs. Flatmate and I completely disassemble their bike and leave it outside the front door, probably just making it easier for them to part it out rather than exacting sweet revenge.

+1 for Steampunk. Worth a wee trip on the train to North Berwick to visit them and avoid the Festival crowds; amazing café and roastery.

Aside from the above @tomatoe recommended, worth hopping on a bus to Leith (where I live) and visiting Bross Bagels, Printworks Coffee and Toast, nice wee café and wine bar at the Shore.

Also Ronde in Stockbridge is a nice cycling café à la LMNH with good soup from Union of Genius and Square Mile coffee I think- they changed from Steampunk a wee while back; likely to be showing cycling on the telly too.

Hit me up if you ever need any tips; it’s been my home for 24 years. It can be a bit bewildering at this time of year..

Yeah, I had that too along the Water of Leith path; glad to have been wearing sunnies (meaning I ate a few flants rather than taking them in the peepers); not so chuffed to have to wash the commuter bike for the first time in over a month.

It was actually nice to see some rain in Embra for a change. Meant all but the hardiest tourists scuttled indoors and the streets smelt lovely for about 10 minutes.
