I've been testing the Schwalble Durano Plus 23c Folding tyre for work the past month or so. Its amazing. Thought I'd just mention it incase any one is looking for a tyre to run at 145PSI with super tough walls, excellent puncture resistance, great longevity, really nice hard compound, amazing grip even in the wet, fast and with awsome text. I think I've found my new favourite tyre. Its proper nice. I encourage others to give it a try. Any one else tried one out?
Are you skidding the durano how long do you reckon it will last?

The frame is up at my parents not in London so I've found a local frame builder who can do it. He's gonna do the same as vaz was gonna, solder in some nickle and the re-tap into that. But it'll wreck the paint so he's gonna respray it for me too. Thinking of going grey with pink lug lining! £85 all in! Not bad!

VeloOrange have a new type of threadless BB on the way which may well do the trick. They say its suitable for damaged threads and odd threadings (ie Italian, Swiss, Raleigh etc). They're supposedly getting them in this side of the New Year.
bollocks i didnt see this until now, my frame is already at the frame builders.
Never mind, best to get it fixed properly i guess,, he reckons the repairs will be ready this week but it will damage the paint as he has to heat up the bb shell, so now i have to decide on a new paint colour... Any suggestions??? I just cant decide.

Yeah they sound good but they're no good for my frame I'm afraid! They just don't make them for Italian bottom brackets, I've looked everywhere!
Off to see a frame builder on Monday so hopefully I'll get sorted! And they guy who sold me the frame on eBay got in touch so I might even be able to get the repair costs out of him!....I won't hold my breath!

MINT cheers man, I gave Mario a call yesterday and he is gonna see if he can get his hands on a italian threaded tap for me. He said he can braze some Brass into the bb shell and tap that!
By the way I came across this list on the internet today, Its a pretty good list of frame builders in the whole of the UK.

Just encase anyone who isn't based in London comes across the same problem!
Cheers Boys!
Hopefully I will get my basso on the road in a couple of weeks! I will post some pics when its done!

A new BB Shell is in the region of 200 quid as also requires a respray! the frame isn't worth that anyway!
I called SJS today the threadless BB is a non starter because my frame has an italian BB and they don't make threadless to fit italian bottom brackets!
Anyone ever sent a frame to Argos racing bikes in Bristol for repairs? I hear they can ream out the BB shell and fit a sleave, which can then be re-threaded, just wondered if anyone had, had any experience of dealing with them.
Failing that try and fill up the bb with weld or something have it bored again and then re-threaded.
Option 3 - through it in the skip and buy another and hope the dirty fucker who sold me the frame steps out in front of a bus without looking!

thanks Dylan,
Well after speaking with bob jacksons today, I'm gonna give anything frame builder related a swerve!
That hellicoil stuff sounds similar to the stuff I posted above jb weld, says it's sets as hard as steel and can be used to fix nut and bolt treads. Just re-tap the bb after it's set!
Might be with a try as might the threadless bb, do you know if they would work with miche primato cranks? As in length, shortest one I can find is 110mm but miche bb's are 107mm would it make much difference?

Hi Everyone,
Had a quick search to see if anyone has come up with the answer to this before but couldn't find anything.
Basically I bought a Basso Columbus MS Steel frame off ebay a few months back, Gone to fit the BB today and the threads are f**ked I can wiggle the cup back out of the bb shell without undoing the threads, I rang my local bike shop and they said I would need a frame builder.
So I rang Bob Jackson, who told me they would have to replace the whole BB £135 quid, and obviously a respray £75 for a basic one colour enamle(would prob go with powder coat instead though to help keep cost down).
As I don't fancy getting rapped by big bob I thought I would turn to you lot for help. Plus I had a frame re-conditioned there last year and wasn't that impressed, the quality wasn't all that considering what they charge.
Does anyone know if I have any other alternatives to having the shell replaced???, because at the minute the skip is looking very appealing. I hear that there is a method of recoating a thread to build it up again so it can then be re-threaded, and make it good again, but I don't know if that is just urban myth or fact.
Anyone know if that is true?? Anything else I could do to fit it???

If you want Halo and 130mm, Halo do a spacer kit/longer axle themselves
Well from what I have read, I was going to give Halo hubs a swerve, I have heard they aren't that cracky really. Or is that just a few bad experiences? I would rather get some nicer hubs I think and not run the risk.
Which is why I fancied the gran compe's!

Cheers forms
Yeah it is an old basso road frame, I have just heard that sqeezing the dropouts in can be a bit of a ball ache and I really don't fancy trying to cold spacing the frame (that sounds like it will end in tears to me), which is why I was after some 130 hubs.
why does adding spaces up the chainline? is that if you don't space it evenly on both sides?

Hi y'all,
I am after a new wheel set, been looking at halo aerotrack rims for the rear and a aerorage for the front (i want to run a front brake) mainly because of the colour options and they are lighter than velocity deep v's. I was looking at the halo wheel sets but I have read a few things on here saying that halo hubs are a bit shit.
Are the rims any better??
Also the frame I have bought has a 130mm rear drop out can anyone recommed a good rear hub that is either already 130mm or can easily be re-spaced?
I had my eye on the dia compe gran compe hubs but I hear they can't be re-spaced to 130mm, is that right?
Can anyone help? I am desperate to get my new bike finished so I can get out on it as soon as.
Cheers
Ill give you a fiver for the knog as long as it works ok, I can meet you central tomorrow if your about?
