Islington cc are a newly formed club. i rode with them yesterday and they seem to be a nice bunch. it looks like they are planning lots of local events, and are really enthusiastic. The crits are part of a wider cycling festival being organised by them and the local borough councils to take place in Finsbury park at the same time.
i'm going to be away on the 16th but i'd totally recommend getting involved or entering a race from what i heard yesterday.

This is a good resource on London air quality/health

You then get the other end of the scale, which are 'X-rated' events, which are completely unsupported. May well start in a cark park, commercial controls only (e.g. at garages/supermarkets), getting receipts from cashpoints as controls etc.
The best controls are the quiz questions, "how old is the school house in such and such a village", "What is the name of the Pub on the B11233" etc. You have to go there find the building/sign or something with the answer on it to prove you completed the route.

Where's that?
Come on people, if you're going to post a pic at least say where it is!
Mine was grabbed from steephill.tv its the tour of Romandie, here is the original caption.
The Tour of Romandie is known more for its narrow roads (some built by the Romans) than serious mountains. There are always several good scenic shots each year of the great recreational cycling roads in western Switzerland, This one is from the 2008 race near Sierre.
That is definitely a success on your first crit. I've never raced at Mallory but most of these motor circuits are tough places to keep your position, especially if you have to swap sides of the buch every lap to shelter from the wind. Master that and stay in the top 15 riders on the last few laps and your in with a shout. Sounds easy right.

I know that, but that doesn't mean we should squander it. Anyway my real motivation is just tidying up after myself.
