I wanted to buy a Nitto Jaguar seat post from tracksupermarket.com (link below), as they don't appear to be obviously available in 27.0 in this country.
Has anyone ordered from here before, and is there any import tax sting? Or, has anyone got one lying around / a source for one nearer to home?

Cheers,
Chris

Yep, I too lusted after one in the early nineties.
I was seriously considering one of those or a Pro-Flex for a while.
I'd imagine that they (alpinestars) would be pretty flexy with those stays. Mind you - I did own a pro-flex (856, the last year of the elastomer shock I think, could be wrong) and whilst I loved it to bits, that could hardly be described as the laterally stiffest frame!

You're conflating two issues. I was careful enough to refer to only one.
I have no problem with stop and account (or stop and search, where there is reasonable cause). It's an extremely valuable and effective tool in policing.
Possibly I was - it's just that when people say that Police are 'fishing' it tends to be in a negative way, and carries an implication of lazy police work with little or no cause (and usually in the context of them trying to hit various targets) - which doesn't appear to be the case in this instance.

No, stop and account is stopping someone and asking them what they are doing.
Taking names and (by "details" I'm guessing) addresses is looking someone up in the PND to see if they have any previous, any outstanding, or are wanted for anything.
In other words, fishing for a quick detection.
Maybe he was fishing, but what would you prefer he does? Someone riding two bikes could quite resonably look like he's nicked one, certainly more likely than someone riding just the one.
He was polite, he had a go at something which looks reasonably suspicious, he did his job. If he gets a bit of credit at work, or hits one of his performance targets or whatever, then that sounds alright to me.

Sorry for the bump, thought I'd post in case anyone needed similar in the future.
This place appears to be good for odd sized rims / tyres, though not sure what shipping would be so might be a last point of call:
https://www.everybicycletire.comManaged to find a 24" Velocity Aerohead rim (choice of 520, 540 or 507 ISO) from Airnimal (make folding cycles), ordered through Condor.

check out this fantastic description
Raleigh Flyer Racing Bike
The bike is 10 speed and in original condition. The bike is in really really good condition. Its been well looked after no rust at all and it has grease on the wheel (metal rims) i think this is to stop the rust.
The bike measures 33.5" from floor to cross bar and 23.5" frame. There is a slight defect with the tyres they are slightly cracked on the walls.
The bike can be collect from carlisle or can be delivered.
Please don't try making me an offer as i won't be accepting any the price is the price and is well worth it.Grease on the rims? ...

Incredible detailing on his bikes...just one thing i don't understand...why are the canti mounts back to front on this one?

Maybe that's why that ones on the wall and not built up...
We've all done it - overwhisked the eggs for a meringue, not saved the file we spent three hours working on, welded the brake bosses on back to front...

That is a trully stunning bike . . . Pongo was the King of the Lo Pros, the one i sold to rick was one of the nicest riding frames i have ever swung a leg over.
Thanks Vinylvillain and Soul. It's lovely to ride, never riden one before and was expecting it to be ...odd... but it's actually very nimble.
Yours / Ricks is a beauty. I think there's a picture of it in this flickr gallery, along with a "sraightened" out one, which I assume was a photoshop? There's also a picture of the pink track frame that got me wanting an Aende in the first place when I saw it on ebay a year ago :)

Just being a race winning bike doesn't necessarily make it porn, otherwise we'd have ten generations of dull Trek roadbikes on here. That Yeti is so fugly that only its palmares save it from being bounced straight to anti porn
Haha! how rude, that Yeti was my old teenage crush ;) Perhaps it hasn't aged so well, but I still quite like it :)

As the title says really... I need a 28 hole / 24" rim for the front of my low pro. BLB can order in an Alex rim (which might do), and a search here turned up a couple of tub rims on SJS but neither of these are quite what I'm after.
I've spotted the Velocity Aerohead 24" which should do the job (and which is used on the Airnimal folding bikes), but I'm having a bit of trouble finding somewhere that will sell the rim without a very long ordering time.
Anyone know where I could pick up either one of these, or something similar?

Posting triathlete's bikes in anti porn is shooting fish in a barrel

I'm with mitre_tester here.. Just because it's someone on the forum doesn't mean they should be in some way immune from criticism.
Especially since mostly all of this criticism comes down to personal taste (barring the insertion line stuff which is actually sensible and potentially stops an owner's frame from being damaged). If you like your bike then why should you care what others think about it? I certainly don't and wouldn't get angry or offended if I saw my bikes in here.
Didn't we have this a couple of weeks ago about someone else's bike? Personally I think it's a bit off to post a bike that someone here has put up in the projects page and slate it.
It's true that if you like your bike you shouldn't care about what other's say, but it's also true that if you like your bike enough to post its progress to an internet community, then it might smart a little if someone from that community takes it and slams it.
Anyway, my 2 cents, and know there are exceptions etc etc etc...

... and quite a lot of questions about it as well, I'd wager...
