Don't get shoes too small! Indoors it's ok (but even then, I would still go for comfy ones rather than small 'technical' ones).
Once you go outdoors, unless you carry trainers or flip flops with you (more weight on your rack) you're going to be walking back down the side of a mountain in them - get ones that fit you, and don't let the shop people sell you ones that are a small size 'because that's what everyone gets'!

Just to join the Aende love in - they're ever so lovely. As usual, whenever I see one I'm umm'ing and aah'ing about buying it, but I suspect that one is a little too close in purpose to my own.
There's a lovely flickr gallery here (I can't see flickr at work, so apologies if this is a repost from Ian's above) of Pongo at work:

http://www.everybicycletire.com/Shopping/pc-1764-112-velocity-aerohead-rim.aspx
This suggests you may be able to get an aerohead in 700c - I wrote to Velocity a while ago when I was looking for a 24" aerohead for the front of my lo pro. They recommended looking on this site.
Wouldn't fancy the postage to the UK though...
Edit: sorry - thought Harry's Aeroheat was a typo of Aerohead :)

I think it's pretty sad that people's first reaction was to get as much stuff as they could for themselves without even asking the landlord why he was selling it. Jos was a regular on here and very generous to a lot of events organised in London. That famous "lfgss family spirit" might have come in handy. More importantly he's been a legend since way before anyone even dreamed of this forum. Hope him and Ross have got their stuff sorted.
It is sad, but it sounds like the blame probably lies more squarely with the landlord than anything else. I imagine he was saying that they left all this stuff behind, and sowing the implication that he had to sell it (to get monies back). If I was told that yarn I'm not sure I would think to check with the original owner, I don't think that makes me bad.
I don't know Jos, but I hope he manages to sort this out, sounds like a nightmare.

I understand why they are doing this. You don't need bicycles to deliver parcels if you steal all the fucking parcels instead of delivering them.
What will be the impact on Pashley?
Could be wrong but possibly not too bad for Pashley - I believe that they suffered quite badly when the Post Office was privatised in the first place (I think at the time they were running a decent trials team that got caned). Hopefully they will be ok.
Shame to see them go, but (and I offer this speculatively) given that fewer and fewer people write letters since the bikes were first specified in the 50's, 60's and 70's, is there not a chance that bikes are not actually that good for delivering the mail?

That looks like a good site. I'd use it if there was a very easy way of getting stuff off my phone and onto it - either an app which uploaded after the ride, or (better) one that gave that excellant map / elevation as you went along.
WIthout something easy I probably wouldn't think to use it, but I'm not doing massive rides at the minute so may not be it's target audience.

Is the 650 front wheel a must - I have a beautiful AENDE Lo-Pro I have to sell - virtually unused since an Argos respray in silver - Colombus teardrop aero tubing, filet brazed with loads of retro stuff NISI rims - Huret - Profile - Campagnolo 3 arm chainset!
regards, SteveIt's *very *unlikely that I will buy this, so don't worry if you can't be bothered, but I'd love to see a picture of this if you have one kicking around.

steering with your nads FTW
Looks like a practical town bike to me. I thought it had a 'pedal-backwards-slowey-downy-thing'*
(*currenty learning bike terminology from Balki)
Footbrakes? possibley, not sure what they look like to be honest so couldn't say. For a town bike I'd have been tempted to fit a front brake, and would have designed it around something other than the lights to make it a bit less gimicky.
It's probably not as bad as I made out, and its never going to win many friends on here is it :)
Pig ugly though :)

This is certainly a repost - maybe even a recent one. However, this monstrousity is actually for sale in Selfridges, which means that people might actually buy it (didn't catch the price, not cheap I imagine).
Those are the lights in the scaffold tube that someone has mounted in place of the top tube btw. And its a brakeless...

I finally got a reply from Siobhan McDonagh - too late to make any difference but at least she replied..
Dear *********
Thank you for writing to me asking ]me to sign a motion about cyclists. I am so sorry for the delay in responding. I am also afraid that this motion has now closed, as we are into the next Parliamentary year. However, I do agree entirely with the motion...
Yours sincerely,
Siobhain McDonagh
I know they can't be expected to reply to these instantly, but honestly, is a 4 week turnaround reasonable on something like a motion which has a deadline? (according to forum timestamps that's when you first wrote).

Hi, I'm looking for a preferably silver 27 inch front wheel.
Does anyone have anything along these lines? Thanks,
GeorgeI've got one which is yours if you want it. It's old and not very special, and appears to have chrome type sidewalls, which are lethal in the wet, but if you want it and a tyre you're welcome to come and collect from old street...

He was done for "wanton or furious cycling" wasn't he? Or some such ridiculous 1800s law. I also heard that he didn't actually hit the chap that died - it was an old fella that took fright, fell backwards, hit his head and tragically died later. He's out now, anyway.
Yeah - that was it. I knew it wasn't exactly the same - just thought it seemed a significant step up from the usual red light jumping offence (actually, I don't even know what that offence is properly called...) and seemed more ballpark to the one mentioned above.
I wonder if that wanton and furious has been applied anywhere else since it's been ressurected...

Just like to point out again that 1. I was going very slowly, even if I hit someone it wouldn't have done a thing, and 2. The single person there was not within the lines of the crossing.
Also, it is more than fair to complain about killer taxis, I get them cuttin me up and forcing me into the curb for no reason ther than that they can. I was just trying to save some time by going through a red light with one ped on it, where I know for a fact that it is a red light for all directions of traffic.
I have some sympathy with you on this one. You get busted for RLJ, fair enough, take it on the chin and make your donation to your local MPs new duck mansion with good grace. But what you describe obvioulsly wasn't dangerous riding (or whatever the charge was).
Very obviously the actual reason you got stopped was because you flaunted the law (red light) right in front of the rozzer so he didn't actually have much choice but to stop you.
I'm not a lawyer, so basically I'm talking out of my arse, but it does sound like he'd have a hard time proving you were riding dangerously though going that slowly. That charge sounds more akin to the one they they used when that poor gentlemen was killed by the cyclist on the pavement (when they should have done manslaughter). Totally disproportionate, and given that no one complained / got hurt / alarmed at you seems a tad harsh.

Try loads on - it's amazing how the different manufacturers cater for different foot shapes - must be exagerated compared to normal shoes as you're buying them so tight. I'm a La Sportiva type myself...
