Good call. Few things to double check though. Don't go mad with a chunky tread full-on all terrain tyre. It'll kill fuel economy and have horrible ride, and be noisy. Go for an SUV style tyre more aimed at road use so it'll be quiet and comfortable. It'll still handle gravel and dirt roads fine.

They only look good with a bit of tyre meat on them. Thats why I suggested dropping to a 16" wheel, then you could fit some mild A/T tyres with a taller sidewall... Would toughen up the xv a little.

I have seen those xv's with old Forester steelies on, that'd be cheap option

You'll have to drop down a wheel size. Plus you really need to know offset and rim width.
If you went to a 16" in the roundhole steelies you could get tyre like 225/65/16... That would give you a slightly larger diameter and your Speedo would be marginally out.

It brings up a good point... mental health is the most important thing. Far more than any old bits of metal. Hope the Volvo guy doesn't let his collection bury him.

Some car owners are so weird. Clearly the car is going to be left to rot. I've offered people decent money for otherwise worthless cars and the owners get offended that I took an interest in the car. It's really weird. The only good experience was when I knocked on a guys door about his faded, and never moved Volvo 850 r.... He actually got so inspired that he got it re registered and back on the road!

If you're lucky the interior isn't cracked to bits... Thats the big problem here, the UV destroyed the 80's plastic. If it has the all alloy engine they are the better drive but you need to wring their neck. The intake system is a bit complex so that needs to be perfect and all the suspension bushings would need doing. The dampers would be fine if they're original as they come from the era when Peugeot made their own units, and they were the best back then.

They are still reasonably common here in Aus. Not many in good condition though. I've very nearly bought a few over the years but I don't need another old French thing.

If that is a series one then it's be well worth restoring. There must be very few on the road in the UK.

Total guess work with mixing matching like that. It may be worth seeing if they would demo the speakers and turntable if you took your amp in. I'd take a wild stab the that the 606 paired with the Denon may be a bit harsh in sound. Maybe look for less bright speakers? Only your ears can tell though

Nice one! Were you lucky with a 'just right' fit after adjusting the bracelet? Mine is always marginally too tight or loose.

Just get a plastic one and buy the MFG full metal kit... Total cost will be under £150
Having said that, I'm reverting mine back to plastic so I have a proper water beater again! It's been fun though.

The new Speedmaster.... Have they added some better/more micro adjust to the bracelet? Thats the first thing they should be doing, forget tacky pinstripes.

Also not sure if you have seen them but I think the Kanto yu4 or yu6 would suit your needs. Powered bookshelf speakers, optical inputs and a phono stage. Also Bluetooth if needed.

Had a look at these, thanks... Ultimately though, reading some reviews has led me to Kanto yu6. With the additional inputs they make a lot more sense. Plus the phono preamp is meant to be acceptable.

The Speedmaster bracelet is a real PITA to refit. The Bergeron tool doesn't really help either. Just keep trying at different angles or even swapping the spring bars out and help. But yeah, I've been putting off fitting the bracelet again so just keep changing straps. Still haven't found the right black leather one
