If you install an ISO crank on a J.I.S. spindle, it will sit about 4.5 mm farther out than it would on an ISO spindle of the same length. Confersely, if you install a J.I.S. crank on an ISO spindle, it will wind up about 4.5 mm farther in than it would on a J.I.S spindle of the same length.
Theoretically, ISO cranks should only be used on ISO spindles, and J.I.S. cranks only on J.I.S. spindles. -

Four ways.......
1: Seat the cup in the frame and use a vice to press then in
2: Get a long threaded bolt (longer than the head tube and headset) with washers of a larger diameter that the cups and with two adjustable spanners tighten until the cups are pressed in to the frame.
3: Beat the cups in with a mallet
4: Take it to a bike shop

You joking of course. They come to Afan from all over the UK. some serious trails for geared mtb's. some of the trails might be useless to the single speeders. You would spend most your time walking.
Unfortunately I'm not. It was my local centre for two years and I find it pretty poor. My local trails are Glentress and Innerleithen, the Tress has become a victim of it's own success and is too commercial but the trails are still quite good. The XC route at Inners is great although the climb up from the carpark with a hangover is a bit rough. Of the Welsh centres it's Penmachno that does it for me, Betys is a bit like the Tress, the Marin is ok but a bit too easy. Get yourself up here and I'll take you round the trail centres and we can rip it up.
I'm not a single speeder, I have friends ;-)

^^ was gonna tell the story of the african rider but i forgot his name. Story is accurate but he was algerian and it was the 1950s, when algeria was fighting for independence from France. He was an unfortunate collateral victim of the civil war, got shot in the leg, spent a spell in prison (his crime... being shot in the leg by a policeman. Seems some things never change) and was 'rediscovered' when travelling to paris for an eye operation in the 80sand feted as a hero.
PLEASE SOMEBODY OUT THERE TELL ME HIS NAME. Its really bugging me.Abdel Kadher Zaaf

well hi to you all. I'm not from London. In fact I'm a Taffy apple from South Wales. But boy do we have some great single speed mountain tracks. Afan Agoed anyone? I'm known as no-legs on account of having short legs. Its such a bitch finding the right sized frame to fit me.
Afan, pah too much fire road action. Get yourselves a decent MTB Centre ;-) Even Cwm Carn is better. Whites is too short and only has one decent descent, Energy I think and even that is too short and not challenging. W2 is good in the morning with Skyline thrown in after lunch for a good day in the saddle.

I think that the reason track cycling is big in Japan is because of the parallels with zen / discipline, that make the sport socially respectable.
The reason why Kierin became big in Japan was during the war the Japaneses ate most of the horses/dogs, and with the population growth there was very little suitable land to keep horses. So after the war they started to gamble on Keirin racing. At some of the bigger events more money is gambled on one night than the four days of the Grand National meeting.
