I've just had a call from the traffic department about this. I'm the only person who gave details as a witness, but as I didnt see the collision itself, I'm no use.

The last time I punted on SPOTY, Zara "bloody" Phillips screwed everything up by being royal, blonde and young, so I'm steering clear this year.

I have found that urukdroid makes a huge difference to responsiveness of the tablet. It's actually useable in front of other people now, rather than having to constantly apologise for how slow it is.

I have a laptop for couch vegging, and a smart phone when waiting for people. I'm still amazed at the prices they go for on eBay, so it may well make its way there soon.

Still using mine, but only as a comic reader. At an equivalent price to a kindle, it's still not a bad deal, just for that.

I don't know about details. The fact that the ambulance was in attendance should mean that po-po will be along to get details of all concerned.

They may have a lot of cash, but the Chinese per capita GDP is just above Bosnia, and just below Jamaica. The border thing is clearly for military applications, but some might say they would be better off spending the money on helping the 35% of their population living on less than $2/day.

They are loaded. Huge stockpiles of western currency and debt, coupled with minimal spending on social security/public sector pensions etc. According to this, 27.8% of our public spending is on social protection, I can't imagine China's is even a tenth of that. Defence is around 4%. Imagine what you could build if you allocated even half of that social spending over into defence.

[Not real edit] Chinese social spending in 2009 was 293B Yuan, which is £29B. The latest figures for the UK are £196B (from the link above). This is one of the reasons China are going to be the dominant force in the future, they simply don't need to raise as much money from their people and businesses, as their expenditure is so much lower (20% of GDP compared to 50% in UK). The fact that this keeps so many in crushing poverty is not an issue for the ruling/owning class. Probably a benefit, in fact.

Nope. Just looked like a bloke driving with his missus to work. Bog standard hatchback. The driver was excellent at the scene. Making sure the cyclist was OK before moving, checking for injuries etc.

Shame he was driving like a fucking blind twat.

I'm more worried about his bike than him. If I'd had a lock on me, I'd have secured it, but as it was, I had nothing, so I hope it gets put in the ambo with him. MInd you, it didn't look expensive and the rear wheel was pringled, so an insurance replacement might be on the cards.

Hi-vis hybrid rider (Paul) seemingly taken out by car coming out of Gauden Road just after the Rail bridge heading Northbound.

I was on my way to Clapham High Street, as I was a trainenger. I didn't see what happened, but heard something and ran over to make sure everyone was OK. The rider was awake but has obviously taken a hard hit to his hips/pelvis, and was in the middle of the road. We got him off the road and onto the pavement, as he was able to move with help.

The nice man in the shop on the corner of Gauden Rd called the ambulance, and a woman too busy to stay, passed the phone to me to talk to them. We did the usual checks and they arrived within 5 minutes. After they took over, I headed of to the tube.

I have left him my name/number and directed him to here to let us know how he is.
