I’ve lost track of who said it with all these vague assertions, but I’d like to address the idea that curved seat-tubes are not as strong as straight tubes. Like most things frame related, this really depends on the builder. When you bend a tube in this way, the material on one side of the tube is stretched and the material on the other side is compressed. On the stretched side, the wall thins out slightly. Consequently, curved seat tubes need thicker walls (and preferably less pronounced butting) than straight tubes. If your curved tube came from Reynolds/Columbus, it would have been shaped before it was shipped out to the frame builder with this in mind and there’s absolutely no reason for it to be weaker. If the framebuilder shaped it themselves then I agree this would be a concern.

If anyone is considering a new polo bike in the near future and feels like custom is the way to go, I would very seriously advise you talk to Ryan (Oak Cycles/Spring Break) for several reasons. Firstly, he’s a ‘sweet dude’. Secondly, he actually plays polo on the bikes he makes. Thirdly, from watching him at work, he’s also a good framebuilder. Most people can’t ride Ryan’s own bike because he’s so tall and has a weird position but if you could, you would find they ride great. You really don’t have to concentrate on riding the bike, they feel very natural. His design process doesn’t just consist of steepening a few angles and getting the back wheel in as tight as possible - he takes an impressive range of factors into account, as any conversation with him will show. Hopefully he’ll do some Spring Break bikes in normal sizes and more people can see what I mean.

Agree with Max about the boards. Obviously it would depend on budget restraints, but it would be amazing if you could build separate tournament courts with no netting. Personally, I think this sort of thing really needs to be geared towards really exhibiting polo and getting people excited about it. I think we could learn some lessons from things like trials demos and have a commentator/announcer explaining rules/plays/giving matches context/involving the crowd. Perhaps even having dedicated exhibition matches? You want people to say “I don’t want to go home, I want to watch the bike polo at 4pm.”
The structure of the public sessions seemed to work really well (and I might not have been paying enough attention here...) but I didn’t see too much info around about where/when to play in Sheffield?
