All's quiet on here, good time to mention Saturday morning ride if anyone's keen.
North London Loop - nice 30 mile route round Barnet. Proper countryside, some rolling hills and an awesome coffee at the farm shop en-route (If Stix lets us stop).
Meet 8.50 outside Papa Dels, 347 Archway Road for 9am departure.

Hardly worth mentioning amongst the carnage that ensued last night, but did anyone else get bitten? I've got 3 bites around my ankles which are REALLY FUCKING ITCHY!!! Has North London suddenly become the tropics with annoying little flying bastard biting fuckers? We certainly had the downpours last night to suggest so.
Oh thank god I wasn't the only one. Counted 15 bites this morning, all swollen up and itching like fuck, and all in the knee vicinity despite the fact that I was wearing leggings. Argh! Little bitey bastards. I'm caking myself in jungle formula DEET next week.

Yeah, I'll be outside the National Gallery around 6.20.
Was thinking this route (exc. the funny diversion around Chalk Farm - there's a footbridge over the railway there that google maps doesn't recognise)May join you, slowly. Am still suffering from ill-advised 40 mile ride into headwind FROM EVERY DIRECTION last night.

Have abandoned the TNRC in favour of coming up the hill tonight for one more glimpse of you lovely people before me hols :)
That, and I have to pack....@Izgard - have you made it back from Land's End yet? Don't envy you riding in last week's nasty wind.
@macca81 - how many English pounds do I owe you for the hat? -

a list and then trains to be divided. please have suitable lights and be in a position to look after yourself if you get lost. Please only put your name down if you believe wholeheartedly in the TNRC code of ethical riding. i.e. "yeah i like to shoot off and put the hammer down at times but i like to wait at strategic points to gather the bunch so we ride together and I've even been known to make sure those less fast have got a wheel to suck on from time to time" - let's make this a ride to be proud of & tell our kids about. i) I've just realised that if you do the Oyster deal (offer still valid), you can print the voucher, and buy a £5 return to Chelmsford. We're not going all the way there, but that's moot.
ii) There are so many junctions/turns :O I'll keep learning it, but maybe balmain (the route originator) would like to join me at the back?
iii) The roads will be quiet, BUT this is part of the Essex is boyracer territory. Keep your wits about you, and FFS keep it 2 abreast max. If you want to move up the line, don't dawdle in the middle of the road.

Saw a lady riding Fred's old BIO RACER tonight. She had just finished a wine tasting, and was on her way back up to North London. We rode up just a short way together from Bank to Old Street. I was on my way from Lower Sydenham to Manor House.
I don't mind saying that the lady absolutely left me behind a couple times, with her acceleration and superbly smooth cycling style. I've got to try fixed again.....that lady had such an effortlessly powerful rhythm.
Hi GA2G, that was me. Thanks for the kind comments! I don't think I usually ride that fast...the wine gave me wings.
When you pulled up to me at the lights and said "That's Fred's bike", I nearly said "I didn't steal it, honest!"

at smithfield, she barely even nudged a completely hammered Leo while he stood (very stupidly) on a tiny little curb. In his outrageous and irresponsible drunkeness he managed to step (un-nimbly) off said curb, before losing his footing and rolling all over the floor in the manner of an attention-seeking Italian footballer.
Fixed.

I wouldn't wish mandatory lycra on anyone. Freestyle away.
