if its fine, then i guess you dont need to, but it its done that many km's and you are spending money on the new parts, you might as well save the hassle in future and get it changed.
i have a tifosi 102mm BB for campag taper. no complaints and fairly cheap.
this is it:
http://www.parker-international.co.uk/13572/Tifosi-Campag-Fit-Bottom-Bracket.htmlotherwise a shimano UN54 is a pretty standard BB to go for shimano cranks etc. they come in a pretty large range of sized

what do you mean doesnt fit? is the thread wrong, is it the wrong diameter? need to be more specific
easiest way is to follow this guide:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bottomif it doesnt fit, you need to find what type will fit and buy that one. i cant help much more without more information. good luck

Here's my Peagoet frame, I got it really cheap! However the only drawback is that someone has sprayed it and therefore iv no idea how old it is or were it comes from?
The BB is still solid as ever, it says 'made in France' in it, so I assume its the french kind, lol.
It works fine and I intend to keep the whole set up including the 52 chainring.
I have new handle bars and front brake lever on there way.
The only problem I have is the wheels. I have no idea were to look for my back wheel and chainring, or my fron wheel. I no this can be the most expensive part and am willing to pay £100 for the both of them.
Is this realistic and if so, can anyone suggest any wheels including chainring, from the images that iv posted?
Im looking for a fixed rear, no need for flip-flop either....just straight up fixed! Thanks in advance
turn it over, look at the bottom bracket shell and it SHOULD have the model code stamped on the shell.
the wheels i would imagine would just be a standard 700c wheel. read the tyre wall to confirm.
ebay would be your best betyou can pick up a new rear sprocket for <£10

Bump
I have the exact same model as the bike in this thread: http://www.lfgss.com/thread44533.html
I am thinking of buying these Sugino RD2 messenger chainsets: http://www.velodromeshop.org.uk/index.php?p=product&id=634
I was wondering if this bottom bracket would be compatible for the bike: http://www.velodromeshop.org.uk/index.php?p=product&id=833
Many thanks in advance! Sorry for the bump but I can't post new threads yet.
that would appear to fit. those cranks and BB are compatible with each other.
i would assume the threading for the bottom bracket would be english threading, however i cant be sure as i am not 100% for that frame. you can probably tell if you have a look on the non drive side and see which ways the threads go. english threading would have a reverse thread on the non drive side. -
What is Easts? I am probably being total thick!

a few years back i was riding up the canal tow path from hackney wick to leyton.
and i saw a pretty young lady in the canal.
i stopped to check wtf and all that.
she explained she had gone in after her dog.
dog and lady were both ok - but wet.
but she was not able to explain why dog had gone in.
dogs are stupid and will chase their reflection. i picked one up on the wrong side of the canal as it was barking like crazy at something, whilst its owner was going mental on the towpath side. turned out the dog saw a tennis ball in the water, ran across a wooden plank and was too scared to go back across once we retrieved the tennis ball for it. so we picked it up on our narrowboat and drove it back across.
daft thing -
I have been waiting for my stem that seems to have lost in the post. He says he's posted it 2 weeks ago. Just want my stem more than a refund really, but will give him till the end of the week to reply to my PM before sending another one. When I ordered my frame from him, it magically turn up the folllowing day after payment, so my expection with the stem delivery was quite high, oh well. I guess it really depends on what he's got on the plate at the moment when you buy sth from him. This is the downside from buying from a person rather than a company in my opinion, when the person is away, you have got to wait. Nevertheless, after this slightly negative experience, will still do business with him when he has what I want.
dont want to say a bad word about HS as ive not actually bought from him yet, but i phoned up today and he couldnt have been more helpful. i asked about a stems in stock, but he said they are quite low on priority as he makes almost no money from them.
i must say after speaking with him, i will happily buy from him with confidence in the future. maybe he just hasnt got round to getting it posted yet

not fallen in but been in many times with my old work (laburnum boat club).
if you are down by the canal and see the kids kayaking, look for any with a neoprene spray deck on and ask them to try and find your lock for you. they love going over once they learn how to roll.i would return quickly to where you went in, because boats moving past will churn up the bottom as the larger ones are often scraping along the bottom anyways, and the lock can move. if you go down in the morning of a hot day (before any traffic) you will find the water MUCH clearer.

if you are getting brasso, most hardware/paint/metal shops will have it. make sure you get the stuff that is cloth pre soaked in brasso, and not just the fluid.
pre soaked wadding tin:

Ok I'll try here before starting a new thread and get flamed...
I have rust problem on my motorbike frame, not structural, but potentialy likely to become structural if I don't take action.
My problem is to find the right product. Stuff like the one above might be good, I just bought a similar product from halfords, that "transforms" the rust within 3 hours into something stronger (??), but I've been told by a friend in france that "rust never dies, it only sleeps!" and that it needs to be killed! I totally trust his judgment (very experienced and knowledgeable rider), but the translation fails me as I cannot find on the intaweb the stuff he recommends me to use...
Basically, it does not transform the rust into something else, it makes it disappear permanently
Litteraly translated it would be "PHOSPHATING ANTI RUST TREATMENT". It is pretty hard core chemical, but apparently it is extremely efficient, and has to be used with care as it is dangerous for the skin, etc... as you can imagine...Here is the french product I found, I need the british equivalent, in a shop... I'm sure it's there around the corner but I don't know what to ask for...
Because I don't know the correct translation of this in english, google is not of much help and I don't really want to order in France, ideally if I could find a shop in London, that would be great...
Thanks in advance for your help!

I think most things will be fine as long as they are covered properly afterwards
i used some stuff called Fertan when repainting a 50ft and a 40ft narrowboat. 2 years on and not a single sign of rust on either, although it did get around 5 coats of paint to seal it.
Smaller touch ups were done using simple Hammerite Kurust. -
spin the wheel by hand and mark/make a point of when it tightens. if it is happening in a pattern or predictable place in each rotation, then you know its the wheel ie a bent axle.
then spin the cranks by hand and make a point of where it tightens.
whichever of the two has a pattern in when the chain tightens will indicate which will have the fault
