not really thought of a budget, sub £100 for both i guess. silver cages and cream straps will be me first choice

being new, and ignorant (both of which possibly a crime) i want to get some clips or toe straps for my pedals, but do i need both? are they the same thing?

if they are not the same then which are recommended?

i plan to just man up and do it, i did 50 miles last year on a FS MTB, how much harder can this be?

i have done a test run around the block and nothing has fallen off. yet.

Having built up my first fixed gear bike, how sensible is it to do a 50 mile ride first time out? Its the 3 Counties Cycle Ride http://www.3ccr.org/ so it's not exactly hardcore, but would it be better to buy a free hub for this? Will i die if i try it fixed?

i had a chrome bag, great strap but heavy and held very little for it's size. now got a timbuk2, light and holds loads, but a rubbish strap...

my first post, although have been a lurker for a while. Live in Reading, dont see all that many fixed bikes around; work in London and see hundreds. Go figure.
