You can do that but theres no lockring threading on a free wheel, having said that I played for years without a lockring just make sure you liberally apply threadlock and stamp/rotafix the cog on tight

Hewitts are very popular with the multi-day Audax lot. They do a nice Reynolds 725 frame which is generally popular with the CTC crowd as a bike that can do everything.

There are some pretty nice Rourke touring frames about too. Custom build rather than OTP.

I though r725 was discontinued due to the fact it had to be silver soldered?

Likeswise I've got one, perfect for cycling touring as you can fit two bikes (without wheels) inside the porch and it has the weight of a bivi but the luxury (oxymoron I know) and comfort of a large tent. Can't fault it, fit perfectly on top of a pannier rack

Sold mine on t'bay for £185 with battery grip, box and everything, look at completed listings on ebay for a more 'realistic' pricing

I've got exactly the same problem on my compact road frame, it won't fit my 800ml SIS bottle on the seat tube. Very tempted to invert the Di2 adapter but it's pretty pricey!
