sadly i can't see what motivation there is for them to allow us to ride in the morning, even if we have appointed front and back marshalls and no sprinting etc.
i know it would be perfectly safe and just a lovely, joyous ride but there's no reason for the organisers of something huge like Ldn marathon to sanction another event which they are not in control of and does interact with their space and people.
:(
sad times
edit: written before john^^ i meant in the morning on the closed roads where the marathon has some jurisdiction. i would be up for a hella early morning ride

I'm going so fast I'm gonna set off that thing that tells you to slow down
22 mph on the flat...prob more like 17...pussy
Endorphins have kicked in, I'm never getting public transport again.
I'be been trackstanding for ages. Someone spot ME...PLEASE!
After you, sir
What a nice bus driver

I'm not ready to be a ped yet...round the block quickly, I'll tell her I got lost
I didn't lock my bike to theirs, did I?
That WOULD have been stupid.
I love you.
No one will try to steal you will they?
I don't mind if they succeed as you're insured, but if they just fuck you up and I have to carry you home I'm gonna be PISSED.^^nice. on the trackstanding i've had peds say things like "oh good balance" to me before! i just smile and don't let on that it's easy!

Ah that was awesome, thanks guys.
+1 absolutely
3 complete beginners, 1 who's played 3 times (not so sure!) and 1 whom came the last time. I was expecting some really slow games tonight but after half hour of practicing, we had some really good nice games.
Well done everyone, hope to see you next week.haha dubious!
Citygent your bike is awesome.
indeed. hope your knees didn't melt spinning home in that gear.
flipmode, hope you sort a bike out soon, it's no fun being a ped/tubenger

Can we please bury the hatchet now, as there are obviously a lot of people who care about this event on this forum and I don't want to be the cause of inter-cyclist fighting, or the source of negative feelings.
+1 and i think anyone who can't accept an apology is ungracious/immature
KiwiMike, when you get out of the nursery (3 or more posts and being on the forum for 24hrs) pm Teddy or Jacqui on here, to discuss your thoughts/feelings/issues about the Tweed Run, as they are the organisers, navigators of the Tweed Run.
I was going to spend a bit of time defending the forum and how people on here defend their own, but if you stay here for any length of time past this situation you'll see that for yourself.
Personally having seen some of the comments and insinuation, that occurred across facebook and this forum it should just be noted that just because you are pissed at a situation doesn't mean you have the right to make out the organisers are idiots/sexist/incompetent in how they are planning an event which is getting more and more oversubscribed every year.
It went from being closed in 45mins to closed in under 7mins from last year to this.Shenanigans has every right to organise a ride in whichever fabric she so chooses, but to make out that anyone can organise an event/ride like the tweed run on a regular basis and have it run as smoothly as it does is a nonsense.
I'm sure Jacqui and Teddy are working on all sorts of ways to make sure that future Tweed Runs are just as good if not better than previous ones and also on ways to make sure more people can attend/participate, but with the numbers on the ride capped there will always be those who will be disappointed. And there is nothing that anyone can do about that.
excellent post.
and good to meet you yesterday (i'm simon, was sat opposite you and konijn at souths) -

damn right all of you who told me to HTFU by the way
i was being pathetic. can't believe i got the train to polo the first few times in Ldn! i was spoilt in Mcr, living right by the courts, so i couldn't imagine riding my polo bike any distance.
