"Built for Tony Rominger in 1994 to break his previous hour record. That is a 61t chainring in front. Colnago was years ahead of Zipp with those dimpled carbon disc wheels. This bike was made around the time that the UCI began restricting bike design so it didn't get to see much use"

Haha I've never said this before cos its fucking lame and I think its the worst thing about this forum - but -reeeeepost!
I posted it about 4 months ago along with all of this http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/sponsors/italia/colnago02/?id=bikes

Since then, I've changed to a Cinelli Grammo stem and Dean Ti seat post, in addition to today's brake lever swap.Ti cranks / spider?
Who made these (Very similar to a well known BMX brand)?

This is a good wee tent http://www.coleman.eu/UK/c-416-kraz8482.aspx- my friend had one when we did the west highland way at the start of spring and the weather was awful. Shit if you've got more than 65l of gear as there's nowhere to store it. It's light and easy to put up.
I always think if spend as much on your tent as you do on your jacket you won't go far wrong.

Appart from the frame, it's all down to the condition of the cranks and stem. If the stem is pinched or the cranks are twisted / have play in the splines £60 is a fair offer. This isn't even a midschool bmx and it has some sort of shit hoffman / alex wheelset (not araya's or perigrine superpro's) - thus £60 - 100 is reasonable.

I think this hub solves a problem that there's already an answer for - a 15mm spanner. Lefty forks have been and still are a disaster waiting to happen - actually I'd go as far as saying that the whole cannondale headshock thing is a bad idea. I used to be a shop sponsored rider and tbh they don't cut it. What velo libre says about khe is completely true. A mate got a top of a range bike from them for less than trade as his brother owns a bike shop that sells their stuff. He's broke, sold or changed out every part of the bike appart from the stem. Since the beater you'll struggle to find a part that they've made that you would choose to buy again. You could never have a freecoaster that shares the current design as it works on a thread - I've seen a few taken appart, I don't understand them really. The threaded sleeve is one of the important bits though.
Have I just about put this thread to bed?
p.s. longskid I hope the hub is working for you

The frame was actually £450 - 500 if it's an ox platinum. If you swapped the forks and wheels, pedals, seatpost and saddle for something newish you'd be getting towards a bike thats reasonably light and fun to ride. It's a good price, just bear in mind the things that are fucked / could be fucked. It's still got brake lugs which is a plus though.

Because I posted it and I was being smug.
On the CNC cassette - it is very pretty. We have problems machining stuff like this at work (mainly composites), you machine that much material away and parts sometimes bends / creep, because you've taken away so much of its internal structure. The forged block would have to be of high quality to start with. Impressive for cnc nerds anyway.
You could deffo build a porn-worthy bike for a grand. Porn is not directly to do with money. Rarity of parts, provenence, custom touches and execution matter more. I'm happy that I will probably never build a porn-worthy machine, I've put together nice bikes that run well. Honestly, setting out to build a porn-worthy machine just marks you out as an egotist. I neither want a bike that sits in the garage that I'm scared to ride or one that people stop me about all the time, tbh it's embarassing when that happens. It is nice when a bike just comes together though.
I do like this thread, I like seeing interesting machines people have got a bit creative with. If i had my way I would ban risers from this thread though.
