Headset in, pedals stripped and repacked.
With the state of the frame, and Klunker-lite dream in mind, I decided the BB shell had to be chopped, faced and beveled (for the YST bb) using whatever means I had to hand.
I'll spare you the gory details, but it's done and measures about 68mm wide (more or less). BB is in with plenty of torque and locktite. We'll see if it holds.
Big thanks to @littleK who dropped off some LH crank options last night. Just chainring, saddle and SOMA quill extender to come.

Costs now, or down the line? Wheelsets tend to last longer due to the rotor being sacrificial rather than the rim, and will be future proofed better as discs are a more contemporary system. Lots of cheap hardware out there, but it would require disc specific wheel.
You can either use an adapter like the above, or get a frame builder to braze on tabs. Not always recommended but it looks like a strong frame in good condition.
