There's a new mechanic (maybe two) at Lock 7 who sorted a bottom bracket for me. Thought it was going to be a complete nightmare cause it had damaged threads but they did it for me in short time and it seems to be ok. They all seem very friendly and able to communicate well which really helps on those bleak mornings when you seem to have one little mechanical problem after another...

Yep, saw that one. It was in the 'ebay finds' thread. I got hold of some stronglight 49d cranks and a ta chain ring for mine which I think suit it.
It's pretty precious to me - the old Carlton's have a bit of history and are well worth riding and looking after IMO and they can only get rarer.
The one you're selling is obviously worth the asking price so hope it goes to a good home. -

"all chromed with transparent copper acrylic painted over it. Carlton called this finish Acrilichrome. The effect can be seen where the paint still remains under the headstock badge. A very pretty, but probably not very durable, finish."
Cheers for that TomBurtonArt. I'd visited that site before but not come across that page or more likely hadn't read it properly...

Could be quite a charming frame/bike.@coppiThat and TomBurtonArt. I've think I've heard of acili chrome but don't really know what it is. Google didn't help me. If you have time for a brief explanation or how I could tell the difference, I'd much appreciate it.

sure i have seen this before.
Lew_redd sold a chrome Carlton on the forum a couple of months ago but this aint it.( I bought it from him).
Apparently in the 1960's all BCF track winners were given a chrome Carlton. Is this (or something like this), true?
He's selling a rather nice Carlton track frame in the classifieds atm. -
