Sorry, I should have qualified my statements with a mention that I used to average about 4-5 live games a year until I moved to England. I've watched it played and understand the rules. I agree with you too, their athleticism, strategy, and skill puts them in a class above the rest (some could make a good case for Rugby by my criteria too).
However, even though there are some skill positions, and there are some amazing athletes, if you line those players up against the best football players in the world they would be outclassed in base athletics. Same would go for cyclists or runners. And the skill levels don't compare to sports like golf or formula one.
That said, I'd still argue that these players have the best combination of all three.
i agree with what you're saying, especially now that you mention golf which is almost pure skill.
Thing is, I've never been able to stomach watching soccer. Too much uneventful passing and turn overs for too few goals. I suppose i'm classic ahhhmerican. I did play soccer as a kid for many years. I also played hockey for a long time and still follow the sport.
For watching sports, give me basketball, pigskin football and baseball. (i know right?)
The most rugby I've watched is in a Ralph Lauren commercial . I don't even know if they have a net or what the concept of the sport is. sad.
For playing, give me non-team sports.... biking (all forms), skiing, running,

That would be perfect for work, if work wasn't in a total black hole as far as 3G (and other things) is concerned.
Not sure where you work or what "other things" means, but you can use a wireless conection as well. If you're are at a desk, you can leave your phone charging while you listen and you've got music all day. if you don't charge, heavy use (changing albums a lot) will bring the battery to the red in about 4 hours. If you don't change albums much, it is fairly gentle on battery life. After using it for several hours and making a few calls, i'm usually at 50%.

Yah, I tend to organize sports into three categories:
1.) Athleticism
2.) Strategy
3.) SkillAnd I've said for a long time that American Football is one of the finest combinations of all three. Football has more athleticism and skill than american football across all the players, but I think it lacks in the strategy.
i think the stop and go play makes you THINK the skill and athleticism aren't up there. It's up there. WAY the fuck up there. Go see these matches in person and it's even more impressive. Gladiators.
some of the guys are 230 lbs and can run a 40 in 4.5 seconds, and catch a ball while sprinting along another atheltic equal who want to crush him. all while loking backwards. the plays are amazing, and when there's a beautiful run, it's well... beautiful.
Watch carefully, and you'll see no greater display of pure athleticism than in good football.
and the strategy... unmatched.

*really really really great app.... If you are into having mobile music it's worth reading this post.
*
Simplify Media 2This is an app available which allows you to browse and stream your iTunes library, so long as your computer at home is on and you have the program loaded and running.
It works exactly like this:
you push a button on your phone. It connects to your computer at home, your library shows up, and you can stream anything you want from there with the same quality as Pandora or anything like that. never skips or needs buffering time. really works perfectly. I mean that. It works perfectly. You can also invite 30 friends to stream your library with the exact same privileges as you. That means that if your friend doesn't have a continually running computer at home for music, It's still worth getting the app because he/she can just browse your library so long as you are using the software.
This really works well for me because i have a dedicated Netbook at home thats always on and running iTunes. It just sits on my stereo and rarely moves. It's only for music. Now i just leave this small program running and i have tons of music for when i'm in the car or on the bike or anything.

The other day I was without my bike, in Crofton Park, and noticed a place called Mr.Lawrence. Its a wine retailer on one side, and a winebar next door.
The beer list is what impressed me. Excuse the length of it, but here it is below.
ALES
Durham
Temptation
Benedictus
Bede's Chalice.
.
.
.
.
Goose Island
IPA
Honker's AleGoose Island??
wow. Thats smaller brewery in Chicago. I'm truly surprised it's made it's way to London. Honkers Ale is great, but not THAT good.
Really surprised they aren't carrying Great Lakes Brewing Co after seeing that. GLBC is really one of the finer mid sized breweries in the country.

spicer cycles, on the internets. kind of a shitty fork, but it's cheap and rides fine if you're in a pinch. i'm riding one now. clearances aren't all that tight on it, but it is a track fork. might kill you with the imort though. not sure how that works, being ah'merican.
soma makes one as well, though i've not seen it.

greatest beer on earth, this time of year:
http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/beerProfile.php?beer_id=00000009greatest beer on earth, period:
http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/beerProfile.php?beer_id=00000001considering the accolades (of the last one especially), i'm not the only one who thinks so.
The christmas ale should have a picture of me doing dumb shit on on the label

rake is not dependent on the fork being bent, as a straight bladed forks can be built to still achieve an "offset" or "rake". In the below picture you could draw an S shaped fork and still have the wheel in the same place. (In fact, Pinarello does... god knows why...)
