It is a very fair comparison I think.
Basically having only a fixed limit or ratio with no regard to what a persons natural 'base' levels are is unfair and effectively allows the unscrupulous to freely manipulate those levels with illegal performance enhancing drugs provided they stay below the arbitrary limits.

Trying to find the time! Just finished my penultimate assignment for OU Maths degree; needs to be posted off today. So one more assingment (mid-September) and one exam (mid-October) and I get back quite a few hours of my week. If I am going to do the 24h TT next year I need to put some decent miles in.
I got down to ~63min the last few years (67" fixed) but never broke the hour, but this is the pace that I can maintain for hours for long distance stuff. Pacing easier on the geared bike with a PowerTap hub but where's the fun in that? Will hopefully get some time Saturday to bulk up the bottom of the table with a ~72m or so effort.
67" is too low for me. I only managed 66 or something on that, although that was with risers :) I reckon I could do it on low 70s... Maybe 48x18 or 17. 17 might be a bit harsh on some sections. -

Things get complicated when it's a close friend who is said landlord!! If she starts getting narky about it I'll point out how my deposit hasn't been held in the correct way, but really I hope it doesn't get like that.
Will show willing and have a go at cleaning it using above tips but am not going to go crazy given the condition it was when I moved in!
Ta for top tips though people. And man! does anyone have any positive "yeah, I moved out, got my deposit back no probs" type stories - always a facking hassle in my experience!
When I moved out, we hired an amateur 10 quid an hour cleaner for 4 hours and did stuff ourselves and despite the fact we had damaged a door frame and snapped 2 cupboard door knobs off trying to force a sofa through, I got all the deposit back. And my landlord was a cunt. But money and mates... They don't mix.
