Oof.
Expensive but not a bad price for a Lobster. It could come up really nicely with a bit of care
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Omega-Speedsonic-F300-Lobster_W0QQitemZ320500539323QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL?hash=item4a9f521fbb#ht_500wt_1182Such a pretty watch, I almost bought one about .......maybe 10 years ago for £290...at the time I was tight and it was a 'another' watch (I have a few) and even though it was effing cheap I really hadn't got the 290 spare to punt on a watch.
As it is, somone else is enjoying it...so there you go. -
then please tell me this purchase wasn't too bad. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270544451007&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Yes it was a good buy, their 'signature' watch was the second world war 'Big Crown' it had an oversize winder so that pilots in gloves would be able to unscrew them.

Inspired by Freeman transports gravel racer and Pashleys guvnor this is a work in progress need a pair of racing/track forks with less rake new front brake caliper and lever new h/set rear rack
The frame Boland was an old rod brake sit up and beg from the tip the wheels were a sale bargain £30 , so far tyres have been the most expensive item!!
Quite happy with the way it looks but theres bound to be a few changes before summers hereI think it looks lovely, though agree about the stem and I would swap the crank out for something less new, other wise it's great.
I need the tyres? are they 28's or bigger? if they are bigger where did you get them?

Sorry to thread hijack...though I also have an Abilita road frame it's a really nice build, nice detailing, and it has quite tight geometry, built in 531 professional (blades, stays, frame tubes). It rides amazingly well, and is running campag record (mostly).
Abilita Road Frame 1990s (Reynolds 531pro)
Seat Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
Rear dropout width: 130mm, Wheel size: 700C, Bottom bracket threads: British, Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted, Seatpost size: 27.2mm.James was as amazed when he saw it, as he had never heard of them either, I presume there aren't many that he made. this one is in purest 'grey' similar to the purple though in 'grey'...

That really sucks man, always gutting to have anything nicked.
To be honest though, that place never seems all that secure,** seems there's a few too many trustafarians there so when stuff does get nicked it's not really surprising.** Maybe that's just me being cynical, but places like that I would never leave any of my shit in sight.Without getting into a who is more valid than whom type tit for tat bullshit squabble....Maybe that is you being ill informed, 92 has the lowest count of 'rich' in the area? and the highest count of people that are 'artists' ? like recognised hang on the wall artists? before all the wannabees moved in there had always been 92...and a few others at the peanut factory...
We have been dug out since before the 'art tourist gold rush' that has occured over the last 4 years...? sounds like you are a little concerned people might think you are trusta so you bring that up first?
this place was always target number one for theft as it was the only place inhabited?...there was no one else to steal from so thay always came here first.whatever.....this was about bike theft and not who was more eligible to get ripped of because of their social strata?

Where in the Wick was that from? I'll keep my eyes peeled round here for you
Hey tim it was 92, we have been really really on it lately with regard to the doors, so the corridors have now become exclusive to us and not open to all and sundry. It used to be so on top it was ridiculous, you couldn't not be ultravigilant, we had the lead stolen out of the toilets...(though that may have been a resident....;/...;D...who knows?)
Anyway the last 6 months have been really good, nothing has gone missing. and then last week someone stole a nice 3x3 roccoco stylee mirror out of the bathroom, and then the door has been left open...maybe 1-2 hours in 6 months and the bike goes missing...which I know is just bad luck...however, that means whoever was doing the random rounds, just to see if it's open has started again, maybe watch out round olso house and near main yard?...
it's annoying 'cause I was just going to start doing it up for my mate, it was really original (apart from the wheels) and was nice to ride. It just need polishing and greasing.whats more annyoing is that we are going to have to start bolting everything down again and lock our doors, and hide all the useful stuff we hoard in the corridors.

Hey sounds cool, I'd like to join you and maybe a friend too, that bit through the olympics on the greenway was closed though now is open you just have to go through a gate with a little man that hold a flag...I suggest we all start taking out cameras at that point, they will hate you and try to arrest you for being a terrorist.

Hackney Wick.....
Stolen in the last 30 minutes the 1972 golden motobecane, rare stronglight 57 cranks, lyotard quill pedals, ultegra on open pros c/w dt spokes, simplex derailleurs (golden)front and (silver)rear, golden anodised simplex commanders/shifters, rare golden adonised Mavic bars, stem and bar ends, mafac centre pulls and levers, dodgy seat pin, orginal suede saddle. more photos here in flickr set...http://www.flickr.com/photos/63293032@N00/sets/72157623458754373/
no lock was in corridor has been safe for fucking weeks and some muppet has just left the fucking door wide open...
sick as a pig.
Can people keep there eyes peeled around the wick though I would have thought it will end up around dalston, clapton as it would be stupid to get rid of it around the immediate vicinity, maybe bow?
I will go to brick lane on sunday, though I don't think it will be sold there... I think it will just float around for a while.
it's very distinctive because of the crank and has the original french cycling club sticker on the head tube....It hasn't turned a screw in 20 years so I think it will remain as a whole, thats why I hadn't really done anything to it, it has been steeped in easing oil for the last 6 months week after week it was starting to free up as well!!!
sort of gutted and almost resigned as I have so many other bikes at the minute and don't ride it regularly, though my mate that has been borrowing it regularly over the last 6 months had fell in love and was in the process of buying it. wankers.
the fucking wheels I had just dibsed were for this, i wanted to swap the ultegras out......mirroring you twice ed...have wheels and no bike...meh. -

Absolutely. Could be a petite womans bike very easily.
was a womans bike!
to quote ...I bought this new from Mercian in 1986 and used it for touring **before I had my son in 1989 **and it has been stored in the attic since then. I am 5'4" and it fitted me brilliantly. It was fantastic to ride, very responsive whilst still being stable under heavy loads.

My neighbour was away for 2 years.
though by that rationale, I wouldn't expect to leave Anything in london for 2 years on the street and expect it to be there...I just wouldn't count on the odds of someone, anyone, be they a thief or the council not to have removed it...
tiny quiet cul de sac, or poky one ended street like some of those next to the railway...are exceptions, if it's just the street 'street'...then no chance...
It would be nice to think so, however ...cue the phrase...this is...
-
Yep, but the owner can be in the hospital right now. Or - what was proven on this very forum - was so smashed when he locked the bike, that forgot where it was.......
I did this, though only for 3 days...drunkenness...attempting to cycle,ahem...concussion, about 3meters from where I felt my drunken friends, who then re locked bike and dragged me to pub with concussion...

No, 26"s will. You can get complete 26x1 1/4 or 1 3/8 in alloy off of fleabay quite cheaply (like £20 each) but they aren't great quality, obviously. Or you can get handbuilts. There seems to be nothing in between though.
TBH I think the frames are too heavy to warrant spending £400 on them. My girlfriend's has come to £60 for complete bike + £40 for alu wheels + £60 for drivetrain inc BB + £20 for brakeset, so £180 overall, plus maybe £15 quid for paint ........
Big Fella if you are in london? then I have a pair of 'old' mountain bike wheels that are aluminium that you can have so save your Lady the weight issues, I love my dutch bike though carrying it up the 3.5 flights back to my studio sometimes has me screaming blue murder.(especially if I haven't emptied the basket)
Try and make it as light as possible, and as long as you shop around it should be reasonabley easy, you can get dutch bars on ebay for £9-99 delivered.or could about 6 months ago, I can only find these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dutch-Bike-Handlebars_W0QQitemZ290410268699QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item439dcd081band they will bring her hands right back towards the seat making it a really comfortable ride, and as Nat said it is important the frame fits, and these can really help if the frame is big.

Hi Everyone,
just to say a big thankyou to everybody that organised and took part, It was quite something to behold.
I only managed to get down for the last game and it was very, very watchable and was amazing to see an already frenetic pace change up a gear once the golden goal came into practice, the skill and the fitness proved to be almost olympic standard. What was particularly nice was the sportsmanship and camaraderie, the little that I saw was very just and at the end, to see the 'rivals' so pleased with each other was very warming.
I was really pleased to have made it, it was fantastic to watch. Highly entertaining.Thankyou.
Ps. thanks to Fin/HyperAllah, It was nice to meet you eventually, much appreciated!!!
-
they are a good chain and wear well, the little kidneys are for grinding better.
you can get them cheap cheap !!! like the budgie at daycocks cycles in hackney, generic local bike shop, I had two of them about 2 months apart for £12 new...(6 months ago) they may have priced wrong, though if you are east it's worth a fone call.
-
-
without saying i condone whayt you are doing as it would be best to try and get hold of the owner, then as a seperate story...
the coppers won't give you the bike, if they catch you they will call it theft so they can tick a box..go to HSS hire for an angle grinder in west london if you can't get a forumenger to lend you one...
Don't get caught.......do wear a yellow security coat. look offcial..

Pair of brand new white tyres 700/40 never used but one has some type of staining may come of when ridden £10
dibs please!!!
