Gutted to hear another has been struck down in his/(and increasingly)her prime. I cannot imagine the pain her loved ones must be going through. Just terrible. What words can you offer in such circumstances? I just hope that the show of support in this thread helps in some small way. To hear about the Pownders road incident just makes me more glum. I hope the Angels up there ride fixed, but I suspect they prefer Dutch bikes.
Hope the LCC keeps up the god work, IMO we should all support them. Their idea re Bike Tube and led rides for novices are sound ideas, but I guess that's another thread too.

Its a great effort. I gave him a few nickels too. Ive been to that part of world (Iran/PK) and its very remote. The fact its not governed in any meaningful way by central gov makes it doubly hard to be on a bike in the middle of the desert. After BEaumonts near miss and, apparnetly, a worsening situation, its pretty reasonable to give it a wide bberth, esp if he's on a tight deadline.
If you really want to cycle round the world without any breaks it would mean at least crossing the frozen Barents Sea. Don't fancy that much, but could be done using a pedallo if it warms up a bit? I think its just a case of racking up milage equivalent to the earth's circumference or some such.

Do you know how many sprockets it has on its rear cassette? That may give you some clue. I recently finsihed a refurb on a Peugot I rescued from a skip in Hackney and its worked well for me. I waa going to get it reprayed, but Ive grown to like its battered look (and its especailly good for leaving outside the pub...)

Jeremy Beedl has a tiny cock. But on the other hand, its massive
