as above, drum brakes are bomb-proof, get 'em checked/adjusted by your LBS before you go but otherwise they'll be fine. Besides if you're in Europe you'll be covered, hub/drum brakes are the norm on the majority of town/utility bikes throughout the continent, it'd actually be a better place to get into the trouble than the UK!

Conti ultrasports are a cheaper training tyre, not as much puncture protection as the gatorskins but not much real difference in ride "quality" that i've ever felt felt. Accepted wisdom is that ultrasports are shit but I ran them solidly for 6 months on both my road bike and fixed during the winter with no complaints; then again another guy from our shop had 3 punctures and a blowout within the first 2 weeks... If you want a "softer" ride get wider tyres that will run at a lower psi, don't run 23/25s under pressure as you'll just pick up punctures.
n.b. flyer owners should check your bb if you're experiencing clicking/creaking on every crank rotation, genesis use *the *cheapest RPM cartridge bottom bracket known to man, defo replace with UN54 at the earliest opportunity.

Hotwheels means you could get anything from charge: plug, racer or mixer? All come s/s but can be easily converted. Same with the Genesis Flyer or Day One from Madison, or Ridgeback Solo (basically last year's Genesis Skyline repackaged for 2009), do you get stockist rates? Stronglight parts from greyville but no bikes, same with 2pure. Got any other suppliers in mind?

I'd love a black team pro if anyone has one to sell?
Brooks have introduced the Team Pro Classic to the range this year (basically a budget version with machine-pressed rivets and chromed rails) which is much cheaper than the standard model. I have seen it offered for sub-£50 by some undercutting online retailers, worth looking into if you want a black team pro.

Also arn't they identical to the Adidas ones? ... I'll find a pic ...
The adidas and Mavic brands were both owned by Adidas-Salomon AG until 2005, when the Saloman part of the company, including Mavic, was sold off to a Finiish manufacturer. Even under new ownership the Saloman/Mavic division continued to make all the adidas cycling stuff under license, or at least they did until they decided not to renew the licensing contract this year. From now on everything will be sold under the Mavic brand name, so no more three stripe shoes for now I'm afraid. -

Best method for removing a seized bottom bracket: you will need a bench vice, bb tool (one designed for use with an adjustable, eg Park BBT-2), graphite penetrating oil (wd40 if not) and a friend with a keen sense of balance.
1) spray penetrating oil liberally into bb shell. leave for an hour or so.
2) mount bb tool securely in bench vice so the spined section is facing upwards
3) place frame so that the seized bb cup aligns with the upright bb tool (eg so the frame is lying horizontal/parrallel to the ground)
4) Get friend to climb up and stand on the other side of the bb shell, thus applying the requisite downwards force to keep the frame in place.
5) Rotate the entire frame, this will give you a shedload of leverage to remove the cup. If this doesn't work nothing will.If you don't have a lot of space around the bench vice you may need to just use half-turns and remount the frame several times, at least until if is free enough to use an adjustable.

I would go for a proper trailerbike (Adams, MIssion and Burley are some of the best brands) rather than a Trailgator if possible, have seen and heard too many bad things about them: unruly handling, weight issues, clumsy interface which doesn't fit a lot of headtubes, brakes on the kiddy bike (they can still use the rear, so either detach or trust your child!). Handy if you want them on or off on the same ride but a lot less practical than the real thing.
The Gazelle Cabby is an expensive but well-equipped and truly worthwhile bakfiet/kiddy-carrier which can take up to three, check out http://www.gazelle.nl/nl/producten/collectie/stadsfietsen-comfort/cabby.html. The front cargo box has a foldable seat and straps for two up front in case it ain't clear.

From past experience, cnc'd hubs tend to be worse culprits for snapped flanges (ahem Hope ahem) than those with forged alloy shells, maybe some intrinsic weakening caused by a batch of poorly machined hubs? Just got a new Goldtec thorugh for a build that hadn't been anodised (ie raw silver) and you could see where the machining had missed the pilot hole markings for the spoke holes by up to 1mm on one of the flanges, not overly precise! I think Goldtec's reputation for quality/longevity has partly been gleamed from the use of very high quality, long life Enduro sealed bearings rather than the actual construction.
Dia Compe Gran Compes ftw (although the cheapy bearings are crap in winter), Surly if you need 135mm and don't want to spend loads.

They're gonna be ultra tight either way, the diffence in diameter between the cartridge bearing and the bearing races is only frations of a mm. Ideally you could do with a bench vice, an axle vice and a bearing press tool but you can improvise if necessary.
There are a couple of DIY methods you could probably try. Number one, stick the new bearings in the freezer for an hour and the metal will contract slightly, making them easier to drop/hammer in. If you don't have a bearing press to hand then you can use a suitably-sized socket attachment and - if they are in a useable state - the old cartridge bearing as a homemade alternative. This will ensure that when you hammer them in you wil be applying the requisite force to the both the inner and outer surfaces. If they don't seem to be entirely flush then use the socket on its own (make sure it contacts properly around the outer rim) and give it one, sharp whack, job's a gudd'un.

read Sheldon - http://www.sheldonbrown.com/frame-sizing.html. If the bike has a sloping top tube then it wouldn't be unusual for the measurements to differ like this.

Haha, i have some Sidi terras, be warned they are very, very white and shiny, only buy them if you have a true taste for silly-looking disco slippers and can put up with endless piss-taking from other cyclists. Dominators are a much better bet in this regard. On the other hand, the Terras they are extremely comfy, lightweight and practical for walking with the MTB sole, which most trialthon shoes don't have.

The bb is actually a cheapy rpm, mine was knackered in about 6 months! good bet to replace it with a UN54 though, has lasted well this winter - in my experience there ain't nothing you can do to pimp a skyline, although it's a proper good workhorse for day-to-day use.
Remember talking to the Genesis rep not so long ago, he said a longer bb was chosen (over the standard 103 sugino) to take into account the wider clearances needed for mudguards the Skyline. I think its either a 110 or 113, somthing like that.
Having sold Brooks saddles/products at an IBD for a while now I know selling against online retailers that undercut prices is a big problem. Most independents would buy at a trade cost that would probably allow for somewhere between 30-40% margin depending on their rate, based on quantity etc etc. Obviosuly retailers are free to offer whatever discount they want on the products (we typically offer £2-3 off rrp on cheaper models and £5-10 off on more expensive ones) in an effort to maintain competitiveness, especially against bigger chains and web-based sellers.
However, I think the retailer in this instance is more wary of price-matching against SJS, which are notorious for discounting heavily to a point where other shops can never seriosuly hope to compete. This goes for many big online sellers, who buy in far greater bulk and operate with much lower overheads, allowing to sell much cheaper and maintain a smaller margin. For instance, there was a certain online retailer underselling the new B17 Imperial by as much as £20 under rrp when it was launched earlier in the year, something that we could never hope to match given our margain on the product. I can certainly understand the retailer (and even the distibutor) trying to keep the price and margins reasonable and I don't think it should be seen as price fixing. Indeed, this is a good thing as it shows the distributor trying to work in favour - or at least for the benefit - of independents rather than just trying to make the most profit. This happens a lot in the bike industry, the best and most recent example was another online retailer, - who shall remain nameless, selling Dahon folding bikes at 39% below rrp!
