Shit grip? Sounds like shit tyres - search for the tyres list thread.
i don't jump kerbs and i don't 'thrash' my bike. I know everyone's gushing over huge tyres at the mo, but i think its just a bit like the craze for bulletproof 36h wheelsets - ott for 99%.
imo 25c is the perfect balance between speed and comfort. I love the refuse, bc of the grip and puncture resistance (but thats just my preference). If you like a bigger tyre go for 28c. I think randos can go to a high pressure. Search and you'll find out.

I've got a fair bit of faith in ppl. Obviously the world is full of dickheads, but when it comes down to it most ppl have a good side and it's worth trying to reach it.
I still firmly maintain that the vast majority of guys who do this really don't realise the effect of their actions. Trying to make them think a little will make more difference than doing nothing.

If you want to borrow one, are in London, and good at giving things back let me know.
Smallfurry is right tho, you don't need one, but like I said I think it does make it easier to build a nice round, evenly tensioned wheel.
Where as I trued my first set of wheels in a frame, then checked in a friends stand there was FA difference. For me a stand is just nice.

...men who think that wolf-whistling/honking/lurid comments to passing women will get them any kind of positive attention. What do they expect to get back??
Ppl always say this and it misses the point. It's not about getting a girls attention and picking up. It's done for a laugh. And tbh 99.9% of the time they do get a positive reaction, because they and their mates will prob find it funny.
Just out of curiousity, have any of the girls here had comments from a single individual? I'd have thought it's almost always in groups.

^ I really don't know, but I'm sure the majority of guys who do this, do it because they don't actually realise how upsetting it can be. (in all honesty until I read this thread, I never gave it much thought either).
So If you have the opportunity/time (which I guess you don't in the countryside?), maybe just pointing out how it makes you feel and ask them how they would feel if someone did the same to their mother/sister/gf/wife. If you do this in a calm matter of fact way, I think it would actually have more impact and long term benefit that a rant.
Or if its a business and you can get a plate or co name, then write to someone there...
....I always thought it would be good if you could get a contact at a london daily to write a piece on it who would then use your specific eg of the co in question. Then you go to the Co before publication and suggest they implement some sort of training program so that the article can be spun to make them look good:
"we received a complaint from x and felt strongly so implemented this program...bla..bla... we believe that more co's should make and effort...etc...etc..."

Either way the militancy in the video was obviously very positive, getting rid of drug dealers and giving the money they got from them to charities and honourable causes hardly seems like a waste
hmmm. I don't really want to drawn into an arguement on this, but I don't think things are ever that simple.
I'm putting off some boring emails so I'll get drawn...
...obviously when I watched that there was a part of me that thoughts "what a good idea, reclaim the streets from the scum through violence as the police have failed you".
Then I thought for a couple more seconds and thought... hummm... isn't the reality that a lot of street dealers are a bunch of fucked up addicts themselves and kicking the shit out of them might not be that productive. Plus weren't there a few too many holes in his story - "kick their heads in, flush the drugs, take the money"... then a bit later he says they also called the police sometimes. So why not just do it in the first place? Or just flush the drugs and give the money away.
Also robin hood? I thought the 'crew' had first dibs on the cash (to survive obviously), then it went to noble causes such as putting on gigs and charities. My gut feeling is the charities probably came last. That Dudus guy gave loads of money to the local communities in Jamaica, but at the end of the day he was still a drug dealer.
When it comes down to it there's no difference between the guy in the video and any other group of guys trying to subjugate and dominate others.
The Taliban had a pretty effective internal drug policy. -
Sorry for the slight derail - can someone clear this up for me...
...I thought mavic 'ceramic' rims were that all over blacky-grey coulour, but after having a look for some touring rims, and there were a few silver ones with the ceramic coating. Is it just a clear coating applied to any of the breaking surfaces?

Got to say that I prefer the old dropouts, but overall I think the new one (haven't seen the forks tho) looks a tiny bit better.
Essentially they are visually the same.
Can you still get the old fork? And are the prices going to be a bit more reasonable? - they're being produced abroad right?
