Just for information
....Only it came with all other parts, not just frame-tubes etc. ...
When you say all other parts what do you mean? It was a complete bike? Struggling to think what other parts you get with a frame...forks, headset, BB...?...maybe some headset spacers?
I know times are tight, but we've yet to see ppl spliting the tubes.

Fuck me. I come back to my thread to dodge writing a boring piece of work only to find this!
Re payment in insects:
Provided they come with a certificate to prove they are not an endangered species, they will be expected as part payment.
Also I put Mike on ignor after his posts in the porn thread - is it worth taking him off to read the above?

Ok - I'll think about putting the wheels on (decision to be made by Sat). But then I will actually want some real money for it.
Just as info the wheelset is:
front: open pro 36h laced crows foot to a shimano 3v (I think) dynamo hub, DB ACI spokes
Rear: DRC st18 36h to bixfix coaster, 3x DB ACI spokes -
...you can buy the same bike with wheels for 120 in my head
Had to laugh at that, just because I've been at work too long and I'm just trying to work out what that means and just going round in circles :s
It mos def does have character ;) I was running it with a coaster brake, and coupled with the sprung sofa-like brooks and 28c it was the perfect knockabout bike. Got to say dynamo hubs are great for pub bikes. Shimano ones always pop-up on the bay for ~£20. Shame i never got round to putting the rear light on :(

In all seriousness I'm just not sure what to ask. So feel free to pm sensible offers.
It is actually great fun, and a really good bike. I'm still debating over selling the wheelset hense the split. Overall I'd like to keep it, but a while back I set myself a 3 bike limit, so this has to go at some point.
I've also still got bits on here and prolly should sell my first baby blue fixie frame so if anyones' interested in that give me a shout.

Well not the whole bike...
- 1950s (?) Dawes Frame (55cm I think, but with an old school ridonkulos tt length)
- Seatpost
- Saddle
- stem
- crankset + peddals
- probably the bars and brake lever
- probably not the long drop brake
The Good:
Almost new smooth shimano BB
Almost new TA 1/8 chainring
Clearances to rock massive tyres and mudgaurds
120mm rear spacing
Sturdy frame, looks beaten, lovely patina, gives that brilliant stiff yet supple compliant direct energy transfer that only a steel frame with lazy geo can giveThe Bad:
The headset is shit, but its been regreased and tbh how much to you care?In summary once you've got wheels on it its an amazing bike. A joy to ride, probably the most perfect balance of function and form that has ever been.
Based on todays
inflatedprices offers starting around £200. - 1950s (?) Dawes Frame (55cm I think, but with an old school ridonkulos tt length)

I hate the way everytime someone trys to make a bit of extra cash by adding a couple of bips to the price, everyone rags on them. -

^ from here: http://superbbicycle.com/category/custom-build/page/2/ - I agree not my choice on the bits either, but mos def works.
Think they said $1K (USD) for the frame - which strangely sounds like good value :S
-
Fair point on it actually being a more modern looking frame than prolly first thought.
But on the faux vintage up thing... I don't think you do. But aesthetically you should go with what flows and complements - imo those parts don't - loud garish graphics on the componants with a plain frame for eg.

Cha ching! BMW just posted up their new Clusterfork. With better clearances, weight and price, the new ones will fly off the shelves I'm sure. The photo is taken with a 40c tire and with the 410mm atc, you should be able to fit at least a 48c. Combined with a 32mm rake, the new Clusterfork will barspin on just about any frame with a 1 1/8" steerer. What's the weight? 1180 grams. Not bad! All for $150
Check out all the details and more photos at the Brooklyn Machine Works blog. -
Do you have any photos of the chainset or a link to show model?
Cheers.
