hey tomasito
that's sort of the problem I have. I don't know what type of hanger I need. Its going to hold a dura ace rear mech. -
Hey,
I need a rear mech hanger as my frame doesnt have a braze on the dropout.
The problem is when I search there are hundreds and I have no idea what type I will need.
So if anyone has one to swap for a couple of beers let me know.
Also if anyone has a link to the right one please also let me know
Thanks.
Here's a huge pic:

Be the envy of all your friends with this COOL orange bmx brake cable + get a FREE Stolen sticker to make you whip look even TIGHTER!!!
Its opened and unused, but saddly unwanted... I just want what I paid - £6.99

On a serious note, **Dean from the UK **said it was "very strong" and "improved his braking", so it must be good.

I don't know how to put the images from FGG on so here's the link.
I know its come from the anti-thread, but IMO this is heavy - good idea, attention to detail, all the components work well together... basically fulfills its purpose.

Sparky if you're in London I know Brick Lane Bikes sells bb's, also the cycle surgery near (not in) Spitafields has them, but might not have the right size (they didn't which is why I went to BLB).
Try calling either of them.

21.5" low pro just ended - £350 starting bid.
Might be worth emailing seller for a deal?

jazzythumper - that one is more like it - not a bad deal either.
I'm sure it will give you a good start into fixing up your own bikes. As I said before - read Sheldon Brown there is a page on here called mech/fixing websites - again full of useful info. Remember to read and UTS before asking questions.
@ Plastic Pedals - I can't claim credit - someone else on here suggested it, and I only found out a bit late. But will be my move for all future builds as I recon it will reduce the costs massively.

Although I didn't know it, I used no. 16 for removing a stuck stem.
I used a jig-saw, just cutting carefully at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. as the alu is softer than the steel it works quite easily if ur careful.
Then I used a sharp screw driver to cut away the last thin wall of alu...
... but if you're not bothered about the paint £15 sounds allot easier.

Really nice bikes cost money.
From the sounds of it I think you you'd be better off buying a complete bike like this one and fixing the bits that need fixing.
Also I think you need to do a alot more research - google, the search function here, sheldon brown
... but for starters here's a few tip / things I'd wish I'd know:
If you really want just a frame then try and get one with a headset + BB - all these little things add up.
Its prob cheaper buying 2 bikes, splitting and selling the excess. Look out for ugly ones in unpopular sizes than you can rape for parts. - this only works if you know what parts are good/easily salable.Good luck.

NO!
If you're not going to keep I wouln't bother.
- You're going to have to phone around, ask for a quote etc.
- You're going to have to get it there
- You're going to have to pay for the work
All of the above cost time and money.
Disclaimer: I don't know much about repairing bikes, and can't see exactly what the damage is.
Also what exactly are you after?
- a road frame for a bit with gears etc?
- a fixed gear bike?
- You're going to have to phone around, ask for a quote etc.

I want to install my old head badge. It was riveted on and I'd like to rivet it back.
Any tips on how to do this?
What type of rivets do I use? - Copper? What size?
I was thinking I could do it without a gun by putting the rivet through from the underside and then using a punch to flatten it?
Ebay has this gun + rivets - they are alu and I have no idea if they'll fit. Its only a fiver, but there seem to be an awful lot of things my bikes needed that are only a fiver... or a tenner... etc. and its adding up.
As always any help/tips much appriciated.

definitive lists **for the tireson the sadle I think you're just going to have to buy it and see - TBH you just get used to what you use unless and unless you're doing some serious distance I don't think it maters.

@ Danewesley - seriously mate the more I look at your bike the more I like it.
If you have to "de-braze" it maybe see if you can get a touch-up kit to match the blue and touch up the bare metal after... I don't know how easy this is but I really think you'll regret losing that paint job.

Why are you going to respray if you're gutted about losing it?
Or do you mean you're gutted about the way it looks now?IMO it looks pretty sweet as is.. removing mounts + respray = waste of time, money, good paint job.
Why not just get it on the road, ride it, enjoy it, then if you feel you really need to remove mounts and spray.
... then i have to get rid of cable guides and gear mounts on the frame and possibly respray (gutted about the paint really)....

Apart from this guy and the site you got the above photo from there really isn't much out there.
http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/home.htm and his page with links http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/carlton-links.htm and http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/carlton70/I worked out my model by writing down my best guess for each letter from the top tube decal - I don't know if there's any left of yours.
RE tubing - it'll iether be TI or 531 I recon... although 531 makes it easier to sell, I've got to say mine is TI and is light and rides well.
You could also try this guy who used to build for Carlton... the site is a bit crap but his contact email is in there somewhere.

Building up a geared bike is slower than I thought... well this one is.

Also when does this ever happen!!!

Was kindly given a pair of Weinmann deep drop calipers by Wimmy, but they're too deep! So now I have a pair of sweet dura ace which aren't deep enough these and the 2 stone ones the bike came with.
Still to come:
I've got brown fitz to match the sadle, still thinking about white tape - any opinons?
