Had Thames Water investigating the sewers at home.
Dude, you should have called me. I love sewers.
Shit, I thought Loic was just this mild mannered French gentle giant who's into classic French and English period bikes, wears a cape and smokes a pipe. But obviously he has another life.
This is what I thought for a long time, had no idea Loic liked trix.
HA! Do you think our Loic could have been beaten up by a bunch of hambushers? No chance.

I've been planning on doing this since I saw it on the TNRC thread. I don't know if I'll pull it off though as we've got Americans visiting and they'll want to do stuff on the weekend. If I can get free I'll be there. I've only done Surrey Hills route once, with Whitedown in the opposite direction, so this should be interesting!

...plant yourself firmly in the saddle, engage your glutes, firmly grasp the hoods or tops, drop your elbows, and power up the motherfucker...
I tried this all the way home last night, and I never really got engaged the way you described. Perhaps I need to spend the day engaging my glutes while sitting in front of the computer.

There's also the Cheam & Morden Hilly 50 on Saturday, mentioned a few times before. Sort of a Surrey Hills TNRC but in the oposite direction. I'm 70/30 about going, someone's leaving work on Friday and there's going to be a massive piss up.
Hrmmm, I could be up for this. Would it be fairly comparable to the 5-hills in difficulty?

...No worries. For people who hadn't ridden them, you all did an exceptional job. Hope Friday managed to find the Downs (with a few Ups no doubt)
Thanks Shoots! It was a great morning out (I think we got lucky with the weather). Nice to meet Gav and great riding with the rest of you. Bring on the TNRC!

+1 to all of the above. I go through it twice a day and have been honked/shouted at several times for forcing drivers to slow down and wait on the run up to the junction. If you're not out and in the correct lane at the start then you'll be desperately trying to cross lanes of traffic to get where you're going.
Currently they're doing road works on London Road in front of the Bakerloo entrance (bus route). I've seen several people (myself included yesterday) cycling the wrong way up against the roadworks barriers and into oncoming traffic in the last two days.
It can get quite hairy.
Hey! I wondered who that was. I remember thinking, "he was a pretty big guy so maybe Gav86?"
I did slow down to see if you were turning right but you went straight so I let you go. I was on my way home and hadn't had to unclip at that point. I thought perhaps the dream of a sub 1-hour Epsom-Peckham commute with no unclips would come true, but Camberwell struck again.
