I have heard that peer guardian is not so reliable as it is easy for the companies who monitor torrents to set up with new IP addresses.
Similarly, as I understand it, encrypting will hide your traffic from the ISP (except Virgin who now deep packet inspect), it will not stop your IP address from appearing in the swarm - which is how the record companies find you anyway.
The reason they go after seeders is that it is distribution of copyrighted material which is the offence. I think the downloading bit is not straightforwardly illegal.
A proxy would be the way forward as this would hide your IP from the swarm, but is reportedly slow. And I am not actually sure how you would set it up.
You mean this right ?
http://www.detica.com/index.php?option=com_articlemanager&Itemid=266&task=display&artid=317&year=2010Apparently its just to see the levels of illicit downloading, but what's the bet they'll be using the data for other things too.
Time to research options me things.
Does anyone here with a mac have much success using tor with transmission?

Proving what you are downloading and where the files are should be crutial, and that the network wasn't hacked for example. I guess that is why they are doing stuff like this... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8480699.stm if this goes ahead i will be terminating my virgin contract in just the same way i avoided BT because of the Phorm trials.
i think its definitely time to start encrypting everything that gets sent especially over B/T. Unfortunately my technical know how doesn't allow for darknet. I can barely get foxyproxy to work.

I'd quite like to get involved too, i've played casually (Never in a peg system or anything) and can hold my own, i think coming from a tennis background helps. I like to get into something regular but its a case of finding training partners and somewhere to play near nw6. Same applies for tennis, since i've moved in town from the suburbs i'm pretty much priced out of all the clubs, any suggestions?

"It's CHICKEN and you LIKE IT. Lentil-loving, bean burger-shitting wanker."
"COCK HUNTER!"
:DI talk some crazy shit in my sleep too... My fave was when I was doing some gigs in Paris and the singer and I are sleeping in his friend's front room... It was late, we'd been watching the Simpsons on his laptop and I must've dozed off, he goes off to get himself a cup of water and when he comes back into the room I say: "Suck me, it's a tradition"
He didn't tell me 'til breakfast the next day... After telling the rest of the band, natch... Bastard... :]Haha, when i was 14 i sleep pissed in my brothers school shoe, filled it right up and didn't spill a drop.

So buy cheap bike, spend extra cash just to make it rideable? Sounds silly. Even though I have just done exactly the same thing. I am hoping the fuji is slightly better quality though.
Having said that, it sounds like a challenge. I'd almost want to ride one and see how long it lasts before it dies.
As long as it's safe I don't have a problem. It's probably closer to what bikes should cost anyway.
Don't you get the same conundrum with most things though. E.g. i bought a Genesis Flyer in the summer but was umming and ahhring over the Willier Pista, it came down to the fact that pista was £300 more expensive. The sales pitch was pretty much "you could buy the Flyer, but you would have to spend at least £300 if not more to get it to the same spec as the Pista" This may be true, but if my budget only stretches to a Flyer, then that's all it stretches too.

Carson, you clearly dont have a clue
I have the right to take up a similar position to a car on the road.
You can cycle in the icy gutter, I will not
You would think with the ice on the roads that people would pay more care and attention when driving. Unfortunately, the mega cnuts are still out in force, pity.
