On the HR chat... Recently I've been running a bit more "just running" without trying to keep HR in low (Z1 or 2) on what are supposed to be easier runs. I'm finding my breathing is still easy - can still nose breathe and generally do 4 steps on the in breath and 4 steps on the out breath. But my HR is creeping into easier tempo range (lower Z4) despite the easy breathing, and only a small increase in perceived effort. Don't know what the point of this post is really, just an observation.

On my run earlier and a bird flies along the path in front of me with a dead something in its claws. I was a bit tired so was like "oh look that bird has caught some prey that's cool I wonder what it could b- sparrowhawk!".
Got a close up but incredibly brief view a bit further down the path when I disturbed it again and it shot out of the hedge next to me then straight up and pirouetted off through the branches. So fast and agile. -

I'm a bit baffled by how busy the roads are. We go out every other day or so in the car to drive to some woods for a walk and change of scene
How many people does it take doing this to make the roads "normally busy"?
I have had similar thoughts when on the motorway but then... I'm on the motorway too thus part of the problem. Doesn't matter that I'm driving for work that can't be done from home. I'm driving when ideally I wouldn't be. -
My goal is to train as if Deadwater is happening. Last year I set loads of goals and didn't really achieve any apart from new 5k pb on new year's day, partly because everything was cancelled but I also didn't enter events that would have let me try to achieve those goals. I also kept thinking about setting out and following a training plan but that hasn't happened.
So this year I'll focus on one big goal in the summer and then maybe think about something for the autumn/winter after that. Still got an EfM entry for this year so there's an obvious one. Just depends on recovery after DW.

Both great pics. I love the way kingfishers can look totally different colours depending on the light. Sometimes you see a brown/grey shape skimming over the water that looks kingfisher-like but is the wrong colour and it confuses your brain, you can't really make sense of what you're seeing until you remember kingfishers aren't actually blue.

Good to know, they are one of the brands I've seen. Want to try a couple out before I'm stuck eating something I can't stand!
