Been away in France, fishing a massive lake. Caught a few roach and hooked into something that felt very heavy. Playing it carefully as only on relatively light gear and the hook pulled off. Most annoying thing is I didn't tie it on as my dad set the rod up before we arrived. More annoying is I plumbed the swims we've been fishing properly today and they are only about 30" deep! No wonder we're hardly catching anything. Had assumed my dad did it already when he set the rods up 😬
Anyway. Have now paddled out in a kayak to a spot I've seen fish showing, baited up at lunch time ready for return from the beach when I'll bait again and get some hooks into some water deeper than a puddle! 🤞

Cocoa Runners. Plenty of non-milk milk chocolate options. Not cheap but the chocolate is very good.

Thanks, I find edge highlighting helps pull blends together nicely. Somehow tricks the eye into not seeing the different colours as separate layers (more obvious with brush blending tbh).
The yellow takes ages. Like white you can't just slap it on and get good coverage so I build from a light brown (most of the walker's yellow) or red (leader dude) normally. Did some very basic pack markings on some shoulder pads the other day and I realised I'd done 5 layers on a squad I was supposed to be "speed painting" 🤣 Looks good though!
Will look up that YouTube vid.

Was playing around with white last night. Pic isn't very good but I find it's hard to get decent shading with white so went for a warmer sandy colour as a base and built light grey (GW grey seer) and two whites (GW corax white and pro acrylic bold titanium white) on top to give some gradient and warmth. Think it looks ok.
Want to try with a cold blue shadow at some point too.

Thanks, the warsuit panels were the easy and quick part (airbrushed), everything else and the marine were all done by hand. I seem to have a lot more patience for blending than I used to!
There was a recent White Dwarf with a pic of a dreadnought that had deep purple fading into blue panels which gave me the idea. My execution is nowhere near as good as the one in the mag so still a way to go!

Thanks all! Finally finished the combat patrol I was given back in September so time for a new project...
Unfortunately I've fucked my airbrush this eve and sheared off the threaded part of the nozzle trying to strip it down to clean. Anyone recommend a half decent and affordable one? I have the voilamart kit someone suggested from Amazon so would rather go for a slightly better airbrush given how easy this was to destroy.

I entered a painting comp at my local Warhammer store. Was there early on the day so only saw a couple of other entries but they were all really good so wasn't expecting anything. Couldn't make the voting later in the day so went in Saturday to collect my entries to be told I'd come 4th in both categories with only a few votes between me and 3rd! Quite chuffed.

Only Games have got loads of 3d printed minis in lots of styles. Mostly to fit with wargames but you can find some less grimdark styles, e.g:
https://only-games.co/products/glowhopper-b-mushroom-bayou
https://only-games.co/products/dog-1
You might have to dig through a lot but once you find the creator you can filter to just that creator to see other minis in similar styles.

This week I've managed 3 runs which is a big milestone in the long covid recovery. Two easy 5ks that were just slogs and then... Turned up for parkrun, a very rare treat for me, this morning. Was running a bit late but thought I had a couple of mins to spare. Nope. Half an hour late.
Commence operation catch the tail!
Ended up running 7 something min miles which felt pretty good but nowhere near as easy as it used to be. Still, hope remains!

I've got maybe 1% left to completly finish the warsuit and zero motivation to finish. I only ever get this with bigger models, happy to complete a squad to the last detail but the last few lights, pipes etc I'm just meh.
Now I've typed that I've looked again and it's a single light and the base and spray with matt varnish... I'll have a word with myself :)

Next project has some better airbrishing effects on the panels, there's a lot of metallic parts which I'm not really too sure on, might go for another approach and go for shades of grey (not doing NMM) but it'll take me AGES to do all that rather than slap leadbelcher and a wash over it all.
Brown areas will be yellow to match weapon casings across the rest of the army. I realised I have airbrushed the left shoulder pad blue/grey and it probably should be yellow too to fit in with the rest of the army :(
Nice rudd!
Sadly only a small carp so far. Nothing showing in our part of the lake. Went for a kayak earlier and loads of carp in the pads in areas with zero access to the bank. Not sure stalking a big carp off the top from a kayak would do much more than take you on a tour of the lake or straight into the nearest snag!
