No need to get legal advice unless she is going to deny any wrongdoing to the insurance company, if she admits it was her fault the insurance will pay out. If not (and she would be pretty stupid to contest it) then you have 3 witnesses who will back up your story. That should be enough for the insurance company. If they still refuse then I'd be looking for legal advice.

bin
Bin? BIN!!? Toast, man. Toast! They make great toast as they curl slightly inwards meaning you can pile the topping on without fear of it falling off before you take that first bite. Also crutons: chop into squares, fry with garlic and herbs.
Or just plain fried bread with a fry up.
But not sandwiches. Never sandwiches... Unless they are going in a toastie maker.

Glad to see that architect has such good spacial awareness
I've seen a couple of articles on that story, all of them awful. For example:
"The area reserved for pedal-powered transport measures 6.5ft (2m) wide, leaving just 4.5ft (1.4m) for cars, lorries and buses to squeeze through."
The area reserved for bikes? have you looked at the photo you have used to illustrate the article? It's not a solid line, idiot, all vehicles are allowed to cross it.Then you get someone from the AA (because they know about the roads) giving a really incredibly ignorant quote. Depressing.

Follow roxys instructions
everyone here should read them as there is actually a lot to do when the accident happens
they also help you be much more useful if you witness an accident as well
heal up fast and sue the fuck out of the driver
There is no need to sue the driver as you can make a claim against their insurance for any damage to bike, equipment, and yourself.
I'm assuming if you were unable to move around then an ambulance took you to hospital, in which case they should have contacted the police if the driver hadn't already. I believe you are supposed to inform the police whenever a collision occurs (may be wrong though).
Take photos of bruises etc. tomorrow, or whenever they come up so you have evidence of injuries etc. Go to your doctor so there is a permanent record of these injuries (as well as a professional opinion of the severity). Get the bike checked over by a bike shop, and get a quote for repairs. If you tell them it's for an insurance claim they should type it up on headed paper (may charge for this service but you can claim that back as well) so you can forward a copy to the insurance company. Keep a record of all expenses incurred due to not being able to use your bike (reciepts for taxis/bus tickets etc.) as you can claim for those too.More importantly, get well soon! I'm sorry to tell you this but it'll probably hurt more tomorrow when the adrenaline has worn off :(

Finally if i am going to build a fixie do you think my 30 year old bannana flacon racer 10 speed is a good frame to use or should i try to pick something else up either for free or very cheaply?
I have the same frame and had no issues converting it. If the hill is too steep you could always go for a lower gear, or just walk up... -

only if we had bottle cages! I hear the nodders weapon of choice is a quick squirt of the biddon over the head, ha!
Simply turn you head to the right, cover your left nostril with your right hand, and exhale sharply through your right nostril. Anyone following too closely will get a faceful of snot!
Beware: It is very easy to end up with a snotty shoulder. -

Arducius - thanks a bunch. Aiming to get there v early on Sunday and drop off kit etc. What time does it all kick off on the day?
No problem! You can start any time from 9am so I guess we will be aiming to leave the campsite shortly after then (checkpoint at the site so start from your tent pretty much).
I'm hoping we can get the campers to the Bembridge checkpoint in time to meet those popping over for the day so we can have a decent sized group. -
Pifko and I ended up getting around in 4h36m (moving time) plus we stopped at both drinks stops and I had a pncture with less than 10 miles to go :( so probably over 5 hours total time.
The course was pretty good, and signed well. There seemed to be loads more people doing the shorter route. Also the weather was perfect, there was a little bit of wind but not blowing a gale, and clear blue skies for the whole day! I'm burnt.

Weather is looking good for this weekend, looking forward to the ride...

It is a little unfair for the photographers to wait right at the top of the hill, as that's when you are most likely to be looking haggard and distinctly uncool.
