carbs?!? wtf
i used to drag race without a filter, big cold air intake straight into TB
[/img]
Be ok on a strip but in circuit racing you are often behind other cars therefore muck on the track will get stirred up, not to mention the amount hours the motor will be running in comparison. I read somewhere, I think in one of David Vizard's books (probably how to modify your mini) that he once got the muck collected in a race motor's airfilter analysed by a lab. It closely resembled valve grinding paste apparently.

there is a hq coupe 202 or banger 253 for sale on unique cars for $30k. crzy!
$30k For a 2 door Belmont? ;-p NNNNuts. £8000 is a serious bargain for that Monaro, that's like $12000A. Looks to be in nice condition too but could be hiding rust of course. If the numbers checked out as a genuine GTS then it would be well worth buying and shipping back to oz.

I'm going travelling for 5 months and I'd like to sublet my room for the time I'm away, as it's a great place to live and I really want to continue living there when I return.
The place is a converted textile factory and basically the space is massive. We have a ping pong table inside and there's still loads of space.
The price is £480pcm including all bills. No deposit required.
Officially the time frame I am away for is Nov 16 to April 29, but if someone wants a bit less or a bit more time we can work something out.The details:
Location: South Tottenham N15. Between Manor House and Seven Sisters tube, under 10 mins walk to Finsbury Park/Green Lanes/Stamford Hill
Living situation: 6 other house mates - 4 boys and 2 girls between 22 and 30 yoa. Nationalities include English, Irish, Italian and Australian. Occupations include Film maker, Film editor, Journalist student, Nursing Student, Librarian, Web developer. Everyone gets on great and it's a nice friendly vibe, everyone is tolerant of each other and will always help you out if you need it. Never a dull moment and evertyone like to have fun but it's not a crazy non stop party either.
Facilities: big kitchen space with 3 fridges, separate lounge space with projector and surround sound, 1 x fully equipped bathroom and an additional separate WC. Outside space with a BBQ etc, but it's a bit cold for that now though. LOADS of room for bikes and associated bike stuff, or whatever you may be into. Ping Pong table (did I mention that already?), decent stereo system etc. Gas central heating, the room has it's own radiator.
The room itself: Is not huge but it's no broom cupboard either. Comes fully furnished with double matress, desk & chair, wardrobe, shelving etc. Is one of the few rooms with an external window which is nice. The area: It's a little industrial area tucked away just off Seven Sisters Road historically involved in textile manufacturing. Some are still here, most prominently the Florentia Clothing Village 2 mins away which also has a gym you can just walk in and use for £4, no membership required. There are loads of other converted spaces in the area and most weekends there is some kind of party/gathering/happening.
So if anyone is interested please pm me and we can arrange the necessary viewings etc.

I don't get why cyclists go on the inside of a vehicle that has clearly indicated. It creates chaos at the lights and shows a complete lack of common sense. I can't see any fun in being close to the curb having a moving car/van/lorry brush against me.
I see that kind of sado-masochism all the time. What is so great about being on the inside of large motor vehicles approaching left hand turns? Is there some kind of amazing rave-up super mega awesome party going on in there that I'm missing out on? I guess all the fluoro has to count for something, right?

dude speaks my old neighbour, 11 psi on stock engine, oof!
'Tis ye olde Chrysler. Way better than the equivalent Holden, probably on par with a Ford. Those old mopar motors were built strong, stock rods with a little work are good for about 550hp aspirated. Stock pistons probably not so great but in order to lower the compression to 8.5:1 by swapping to 360 heads the pistons connot possibly be stock, must have been a mild street motor with high comp pistons beforehand. The highest comp 318 to be released in Oz would be lucky to have a comp ratio that high.

I cleaned the head up and it is flat, but there is a little crack on one of the water passages near 2 & 3. there is something that looks like a crack inside the water chamber, but it's hard to tell. i am going to take the head to a mg shop on saturday and see what they think, before throwing £40 after a crack test.
i was considering putting it back on with a new gasket (as my method of testing), but i will just see what these dudes at the shop say.
terminal, i suspect.
i will need to convert the spar head to u/l, so if that does need doing, i will get a little work done.
also - i didn't think it was possible to crack the head on a red motor!
Fair enough. I couldn't believe it either, it was cracked right over the top, half way through. Had a lot of corrosion inside which was odd, we suspected it may have been used on a boat for a while.

stilson on head studs = not a good idea. i will just htfu and have another crack at it.
a hairy-eared mg dude at work has looked at the pics and suggested i clean the head up myself and inspect before sending it off to the machine shop, as he suspects a crack between 2 & 3.
Iron heads do crack occasionally, have it crack tested if you think it's suspect. I cracked a red motor head once on my blue 202 between 4 & 5. It was an ancient yella terra which I'd spent 2 weeks porting as well. Ended up locating another yella terra head (for a 138ci - bizarre i know) ported it with good valve job and opened out the combustion chambers. Made a hell of a difference. In the torana it would beat up on 5L commodores no probs.
You should port a head for the B head and give it a big 3 angle valve job, siamese port heads need all the help they can get.

Dibsing saddle for my housemate. I'm close to Hackney so can collect tomorrow.
