Armourtex RAL 4005 with silver metallic & clear coat
/attachments/6787It wasn't my first choice (wanted something darker) but they don't have every single RAL colour in stock so I had to settle. It's really grown on me and now I think its the shizzle. Changes shade in different lights and the silvery lustre at night is wicked.
I'll take some close-up snaps if anyone is interested. For the money the job is sweet, only a couple of little faults here and there but you have to nearly have your nose touching it.

My first single speed build, as it stands at 12am last night...
Showing before & After pics.
-Based on late 60's/early 70's Falcon Olympic 531 frame, I decided to use it because of it's age and the fact it fits me perfectly.
-Armourtex Blue lilac powder coat with metallic & clear cloat
(has an awesome luster on the street @ nite, and changes shade in different lighting, with silvery pearl effect also)
-Velocity rim to rear with system X hub
-£10 Velox front rim
-FSA crankset & KC10 bmx chain
-Quill to A-head stem converter & charge bullhorns
-Still have the original Falcon badge which I intend to install once I can locate a pop rivet gunI can't believe I didn't do this sooner - it rides mint and single speed is way better than I xpected!

Sorry for your loss Samanthah...
I was in Kiwi Cycles in Vic Park village last week speaking to the fella behind the counter and he reckons that it's one bunch of kids who keep piching everything in the area and keep trying to scope out the shop. Bikes have even been swiped from outside the shop when customers are inside! He may know of the culprits, could be worth a chat?
Lock type please!!

I've done it a couple of times on my hack and it's pretty easy, even without a vice as i don't have one, just take your time, don't be a gorilla and find a good place to comfortably do the sawing. Don't let the hacksaw jump about or you can damage the threads. Just lightly file off the burrs when your done cutting and if the threads near the cut are a bit rough just lightly rub the hacksaw blade along the path of the thread "valley". check with the nut and if it goes on ok then your done.

Had a really good time last night at Easts. It was great to put some faces to names although double confusing with the name and forum name... but can remember Katt, Jim, Dave, Phil, Johnny, Rich, Rob, Gordon and Bruno
Thanks for making me feel welcome and hopefully see you all next week.
Last night was loads of fun. I'd also like to say thanks as a noob and what a friendly welcoming bunch of peeps. I look forward to doing it all again, hopefully on a better ride next time!

it seems to me that they hold these posessions as some kind of indicator of success, its a status sysmbol and a massive extension for thier cock. i think they find it hard to understand that i dont give a fuck about having a car, which undermines all the effort they go through. after working hard to buy cars they cant afford, it annoys them im quicker across town, not a fat unhealthy fuck, rule the road, and that i slow traffic down.
Melon - you hit the nail on the head. The undermining you talk about is also similar within the car enthusiast world itself. Back home I had an old 6cyl banger that built up for quick street set-up - rapid off the lights. I used to dust off all sorts of flashy new expensive V8 stuff - the look on their faces was priceless. People who i knew with the new flash cars couldn't understand why I would even want a car like mine.

We've all got it pretty good in london you know. Drivers here actually aren't too bad when you compare them to some other places. At least they (drivers) are used to seeing cyclists on the road.
I'm from Perth, Western Australia and the flak cyclist get over there is down right shameful. People yell abuse, throw beer bottles and McD's drinks at you, don't see you and pull out on you on a regular basis and if they knock you off your bike you'll "be firmly in the wrong" as far as they are concerned. I stayed firmly on the tracks and trails back home because of this as i'd heard far too many stories and seen first hand my old man (now in his mid sixties and still competitive mind) get knocked off on a regular basis - about 6 years back he got knocked off bad - someone tried to overtake him and then turn left!! Over the bonnet and a somersault between 2 signposts later he gets a cracked hip, a mangled bike and no sympathy from the driver at fault. He now only rides on the street rarely, as do his cycling mates and does more organised racing and track events.
Seriously, london is sweet for cycling - mainly because there are so many of us about - we can't be ignored.

I use the greenway every day to get to work. Gustav is right there are lights From fish island to the railway bridge ,but nowhere else. there is also a personnel entrance to the olympic site right on the greenway (like right on the path) between these two points, along with security guards at the entrance who may take offence to racing past the site door, assuming they are still working. not sure what time they knock off shift but I've been through between 6.30 & 7 before and they have still been there - but it's dead quiet at around 9 with no-one about except "hoodies" bunching around light poles selling suspicious substances......

i've just joined yesterday and have also been reading this forum for a while - there is such quality info on here (and a good sense of humour). Thanks to lfgss I've been able to find various bike shops I didn't know about, armourtex etc in no time flat.
Live in Hackney N16, building my first SS at the moment.
Drop frame (ol' falcon 531 - early 70's) off tomorrow morning for powder coating, looking to get all bits this week so i can build it this weekend. I'm so sick of my hack - It's gotta go!!
