a mate of mine used to ride an old Enfield Bullet, which was kickstart only. He wired up a killswitch for it that lived on the inside of an ammo box attached to the side, so on brand. That, in combination with the fact that you had to be a sort of bike-whisperer to get it to start anyway, meant it was fairly secure.

Seconded – I've had a pretty good success rate with this.
Also seconding the ultrasonic assessment. One of our allotment neighbour has one, which is justified because the rodents have had all our pea seedlings, but also it is super annoying. I'm 31, 6' and have played in metal bands for 15 years so really shouldn't be able to hear those things but I massively can.

Power tool advice: are oscillating multi-tools like have a rubbish version of all the separate tools, or are they really useful?
Basically I don't have tonnes of space right now, so the idea of one thing that does a few jobs is very appealing. However my next proper project will be sanding back and revarnishing 200 year old floorboards, so suspect I might just have to buy/borrow/hire a specific sander.
Powertool-wise I currently only have a jigsaw, drill, and dremel.

I don’t really understand, I was replying to stickyfingers as it sounds like they’re going for 42x11/42, which on say 700x38 gives around 27 GI. I used to run a bottom gear of 27ish GI (50/36x11/36) so was describing my experiences there. I never disputed what you were saying, if anything I was backing it up.
And for the record, yes I’ve pushed a loaded bike up a steep hill off road. No I didn’t enjoy it.

The other day I made the call for my work to not ship road-route orders to Europe until this gets worked out. Put the message out, and then had a bunch of similar messages from DHL etc saying they wouldn’t take road-route packages. Nothing from RM officially but I took the decisions to store the orders ourselves since they’d be so likely to get lost in the courier/post systems

a certain amount of twangy-ness and that reassuring plank-like feel remains, even if the thing has two EMGs in there. one of the guys in my band has/had (I can't keep track) the Jim Root one and it is enjoyably different to the les pauls and stuff we also have knocking around. It is definitely mainly in the playing sensation once you've got hardware like that in there though
